Our friends, the Brits, went from relinquishing their right to bear arms in 1997 to standing on the edge of the Islamist abyss today. Our Second Amendment is not about the right to go duck hunting, folks. It’s about keeping power in the hands of The People.

As the recipient of a state pension, could I thank all those still working (including myself) for collectively paying their taxes to fund it. Just as I did for your parents and/grandparents during my lengthy, and ongoing, working life. Something I did on the understanding that the system would continue to function, as it does. That’s how it works. 👍

@TeagueRoger I suppose there is a shortage of doctors partly because of things like uni loans and high taxation. I wonder if the government would be as well to look at that too as a way of retaining skilled public sector staff?

@DroptheAlpha In some cases. Take doctors, they get over 20% employer contributions to their pensions which are guaranteed. It's why so many doctors retire early at 55yrs because they hit the life-time allowance and we've a shortage of doctors. But a refuge collector deserves both.

I'd seriously look at the gold plated defined benefit schemes paid to public sector employees at a cost of £5.1Bn a year with a total liability for unfunded public sector pensions at roughly £1.3..£1.5 trillion. Remember, that's on top of getting the State Pension!
Reem Ibrahim@ReemAmirIbrahim

Government pensions are a scam. Younger workers are paying more and more to fund a system that is mathematically impossible to sustain. Would you scrap the triple lock?

Can anyone give me a valid reason why public sector workers get a 29% state funded pension & workers in the private sector get an avg of 3-6% and fund the public sector on top. Workers are workers & taxpayers . So what makes one sector more worthy ?

…dugout and they need to be backed in the summer. An early completion of any takeover gives us a chance to retain the core and build a bit more depth to make us less susceptible to any injuries. The longer it takes to do that deal, the more turnover we can expect! #ColU

The summer debrief can start early. For a second season, we’ve been undone by too many injuries to the big players in the squad. Unlucky or something else behind it? When your squad is slim, that hurts you more and we’ve just run out of gas. It’s the right duo in the #ColU

@LoftusSteve What was the £480 a month for then that I paid into my DB pension, for 24 years? I’d suggest researching the subject matter which you clearly have absolutely zero knowledge of. Sadly you have come across as a bitter and clueless imbecile, which I’m sure wasn’t your intention.

A super easy place to start with pension reform. If you get a public sector pension above £20,000 per annum you lose your state pension. This is easy for the Gov to track and should be phased in gradually so it's £20k for 2040.

Former Met Detective Superintendent Shabnam Chaudhri 'I'd have been scared if I was faced with a load of young kids'. We need more resilient senior police officers. I don't want SLT telling the public they are scared of children on national radio; it's bad for public confidence.

@SharePickers My question around solar is if I look solely through the financial lens, wouldn’t it just be better to invest that capital amount. Eg the returns would be greater than the electricity savings?

Two weeks ago we had solar panels and a battery fitted. We have just completed our first full week with the system. Our electric bill for the week commencing 10th March 2026 compared to the same week last year has dropped by 71% from £31.71 to £9.05. We also have not received our DNO cert yet which would allow us to sell back into the grid. On sunny days our battery has been full by 11:30am meaning we don’t yet benefit from the excess free energy being produced. We are now going to buy an electric car and fill it with free energy. If only all of the UK could do this, it would go along way to reducing the countries high energy costs. @octopusenergy @g__j

Argentina is sending naval units to assist the U.S. in safeguarding international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The UK has refused. In 1982 President Reagan came to the aid of then PM Margaret Thatcher who was defending the UK colony in the Falkland Islands, claimed by Argentina which refers to them as the Malvinas Islands. In light of the UK’s cowardly refusal to support the US in the Persian Gulf conflict, I think it only appropriate for the Trump Administration to consider reversing US policy on the Falklands and support the Argentinian claim.
