We are very sad to share RPD Zeus from @cheshirepolice recently passed over Rainbow Bridge. Zeus, a stunning black German Shepherd, served with the @NWPolice and Cheshire Police Dog Section Alliance for 5 years and 9 months, and was an exceptional partner to his handler. On one occasion, he tracked and helped apprehend a suspect who had been on the run for several weeks - this was typical of Zeus, he never gave up. He retired in 2024 to a lovely family who gave him a wonderful life - he was loved to bits. Last September we supported Zeus when he needed some help, and we will be there again for his family this one final time. At the time Steve his Dad sent us a lovely message: ‘His grant means so much to us. As obviously he is an older dog with a few bits of wear and tear. It means there is someone else out there to help him if needed. We really appreciate what you all do for us as a family, it means a lot knowing we can get support for him when needed.’ Our thoughts and love go to Zeus’s devoted family, and his former handler. **We are here for all our retired service animals and we cannot do it without your help, so a huge thank you. **Please visit our website and get involved - with over 600 animals registered, we are needed more and more - so why not pop by our shop, or consider making a donation - we are all here to: Protect Our Protectors nfrsa.org.uk

Following an attempted violent robbery of a delivery rider last night 1 male in possession of a machete was detained whilst another with a knife made off. PD Ike attended and picked up his track through gardens & into an alleyway where he found him hiding. Fantastic Work Ike 👏

When you have a huge family, it’s inevitable we have to say goodbye more often than we would like. We’re desperately sad to share Retired Police Dog Ihm who served with @PoliceScotland and @PSOSDogs has passed away, just a few days before his 10th birthday which would have been the 12th of February. Last November we supported Ihm when he was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour, and tragically it progressed to a point where it was too much. But we want to celebrate Ihm, so here is his story in his proud handlers words. Please read it - and know he was amazing. Sleep well Big Eem - it was a privilege to support you when you needed us. Thank you for your service. “PD Ihm ( or Big Eem to those who knew him) began his service with Police Scotland in 2018 and served until 2025. Ihm worked with his handler and was joined shortly after starting his service by his wee pal, PD Harley, who was a Springer Spaniel trained as an ESDDT - they were inseparable at home. Ihm was a formidable police dog who carried out his duties with courage, intelligence, and unwavering dedication. More importantly he was a gentle soul who helped protect the public - instinctively knowing when they were vulnerable. Ihm was there for countless people in times when they absolutely needed it. But to those who meant harm, Ihm was fearless, striking terror into criminals through his strength and presence alone. Ihm was so much more than a police dog. At home, he was part of the family, gentle, affectionate, and full of love. He knew when it was time to be alert and strong, and when it was time to simply be a dog — offering companionship, and unconditional devotion. In his twilight years of service, Ihm helped to train his willing apprentice PD Echo and showed him all the tricks of the trade. When his working days came to an end Ihm handed over the baton to PD Echo and transitioned happily into retirement, enjoying a life filled with warmth, care, happiness and the odd bit of time in the house!! Unfortunately in his retirement Ihm developed a tumour, and we as a family cannot thank the NFRSA enough for all their help and support throughout this. Ihm had a great life with us but it was still over too soon. Thank you again to your wonderful foundation for all you do for the retired service animals and your genuine care for them.
