Wall Street is doing exactly what it did in 2008. In the subprime crisis, banks packaged loans nobody wanted into CDOs & offloaded the risk onto others. Blackstone is now doing the same - bundling $2bn of private equity stakes it can't sell into bonds for insurers to buy. These are called "CFOs" and issuance has gone from $4.8bn to $25.9bn in 4 years. Different name. Same trick.
