Signing a player in January has to be about NOW impact. We're still in 4 comps. Depleted. Looking for some magic. Nico Williams - 2 goals - £300k p/w - £58m. Probably great in the long term, but now? Not so sure he'd be much more than a body this season. He'd also not add to our depth, he'd just leave one wide player buried (vs signing a forward). Players scoring and delivering impact now: Marmoush - 17 goals, 11 assists Mbeumo -13 goals, 4 assists Cunha - 10 goals, 4 assists Sesko - 11 goals, 3 assist Barcola - 10 goals, 2 assists Even Sane (5 goals) and Coman (4 goals) are having more impact than Williams is right now and have the experience in title run-ins. If you're not signing for now, generally speaking, you're paying a premium on something you could sign for 30% less in the summer. Arsenal live in a world of finite cash, make a mistake you can't undo for 3 seasons, fans won't forgive and will forget they begged for the signing. Look at United fan reaction to signing Hojland, Casemiro and Zirkzee... elation, now toxic buyers remorse.
