I like Elon. I like and use FSD a lot. I also still drive so I can keep that skill. But FSD is not a better driver than an alert human yet that has average-good skill. The stats aren’t wrong. They’re just weasel worded. It’s not hard to drive smoother and with better reaction time than FSD if you still have the skill to drive.

As an occasional Uber Driver, I have done over 300 passenger rides by now. I use FSD for 100% of my rides. For the first time ever, I just had passengers who were adamantly opposing my use of FSD. One of them said he doesn’t trust Elon Musk. He is a software engineer, and he says he knows that software isn’t perfect. He doesn’t wanna be the one to edge case that leads to an accident. We had a nice conversation. I tried to appeal to his mathematical mind, arguing that the combination of the system and myself observing is definitely safer than me driving without it. He didn’t wanna hear any of it. Both of them didn’t. Interesting. I did not expect that position from an engineer. Oh and: I felt a lot more nervous, driving entirely myself again. It was over 20 minutes. I do not want to do this anymore. Driving a vehicle is insane.

I saw a listicle that showed The Expanse as one of the best sci-fi series of all time. I never watched it because the authors joined a cancel mob against me and were pricks. Is it actually that good?

@GhostEightThots I've been playing 500+ hours. Still love the game. Is it perfect? No, but nothing comes close. PVE and PVP only lobbies would make it great, along with the current version of PVPVE. Add difficulty levels, with more endgame content then it would be near perfect.

I'm so done with ARC Raiders. Used to play the game for hours. Now, maybe an hour at best. The developers don't have a clue and got lucky it's popular because post launch is a joke and shows they don't know wtf they're doing. The matchmaking based on aggression is just ridiculous and completely destroys what should be randomized encounters keeping you guessing. Instead, you know exactly what you're going to get 90% of the time depending upon your previous behavior in prior lobbies and is easy to manipulate.

@mikepat711 I rarely post anything on X but I have to say switching from HW 3 to a Junipeer HW 4 is night and day on FSD. I could barely use it on HW 3, and on HW 4 I use it almost 98%. Its near flawless. Only issues are some navigation querks but no issues on safety at all.

Tesla Self-Driving sucks and doesn't work. This compressed video shows 90 minutes of Tesla's V14.2.2.5 moving through the heart of Philadelphia, and back to the suburbs for some errands. As you watch this clip, you'll start to realize that Tesla's goal of autonomy at-scale is very far from here, and probably won't ever actually happen. The entire charade is nonsense. Tesla cars have level 2 ADAS just like SuperCruise and BlueCruise. Yes, your Chevy Silverado does do this. More music by the homie @StainlessOne

I've been in tech in the PacNW since the early 90s, working for big companies, and many start ups. There will never be the equivalent of one of these companies founded, or based in Washington. (founded, maybe. But they won't stay.) If you're a newbie to the Seattle area, these companies are legends and it's time to get a clue on the history. Under the new taxation, the founders of these companies would have never successfully grown and collectively hired hundreds of thousands: Attachmate WRQ Microsoft Amazon Avalara Concur (SAP) McCaw Cellular (Now AT&T wireless) Expedia T-Mobile Aldus (acquired by Adobe) Immunex ZymoGenetics Real Networks F5 REI Eddie Bauer Costco Zillow Starbucks Expediters International Alaska Airlines Paccar Airborne Express UPS (yes, UPS was founded in Seattle) Nordstrom Eagle Hardware (acquired by Lowes) Blue Origin Why would a founder of any of these companies start the equivalent of any of these legends if they'd have to give up 10% to the state when they're still in an early stage? And save me the sanctimonious "paying my fair share" virtue signaling. Grow up. This is one of the most aggressive tax schemes in the country. And our once vibrant economy will be relegated to satellite offices and incubator stage companies. Nice work, Washington!

@itskyleconner Exactly why EV will never be mass adopted. Until my car charges from 2% to 100% in 2minutes..I ain’t buying. Especially with the cost of electricity being very similar to gas and to add the power to the house for a home charger is just insane.

Wow: The Rams plan to propose a rule change to address the Seahawks' 2-point conversion in Week 16. If this call had gone in the Rams' way, they likely would have won the Super Bowl instead of the Seahawks. One of the most controversial calls in NFL history.

@r0ck3t23 Yes, companies will have a higher margin as a percentage of sales due to reducing costs, but without an economically viable population able to purchase goods or services, gross revenue will likely decrease along with gross profit in terms of real dollars.

Before 2030, the jobs won’t be automated. They’ll be gone. Jason Calacanis just explained why nobody in power is telling you that. Calacanis: “The idea that when you order something from Amazon, a human would touch it at any point in that supply chain is insane.” Not eventually. Before 2030. Calacanis: “Before 2030, you’re gonna see Amazon replace all factory workers and all drivers.” This isn’t speculation. It’s math. Calacanis: “Every self-driving car is four full-time jobs. And every humanoid robot in a factory is five jobs, maybe six.” One machine. Six salaries. No physical limitations. No sleep. No shifts. The corporate incentive to deploy isn’t just strong. It’s unstoppable. Calacanis: “Every Amazon worker, all those jobs. UPS, gone. FedEx, gone.” Every previous economic revolution gave society time to adapt. The Agricultural Revolution unfolded over generations. The Industrial Revolution took fifty years. Entire lifetimes for workers to retrain, relocate, rebuild. Calacanis: “This one will happen in a decade.” That’s the number nobody wants to sit with. Not fifty years. Not a generation. Ten years for millions of people to find a new reason to exist economically. Calacanis: “What happens to those people who get caught in the gap?” Technologists say new jobs will be created. They’re probably right in the long run. But the long run is cold comfort to a UPS driver in 2027 whose entire profession evaporated while economists were still writing papers about it. Calacanis: “Somebody needs to retrain these people.” Yes, your Amazon order will arrive faster. Your Uber will cost half as much. The companies will be more profitable than anything in history. And millions of people will be standing in a gap that nobody closed. We know exactly what’s coming, exactly when it’s arriving, and exactly who it’s hitting. The only thing missing is the plan. And the time to build one is almost gone.

You need 2 Mac Studios with M3 Ultra to run Kimi K2.5 locally at ~20 TPS. At that speed you can barely run a single agent, not a "swarm" or an "army." Kimi K2.5 costs $1.5/M output via OpenRouter. Even if you max out 20 TPS 24/7 that's ~1.7M tokens/day which is equivalent of $2/day or $78/mo. You spent $20,000 to save $78/month, limited to one agent at a time, zero scalability, and hardware that's obsolete in 12 months. Your claim of "$20,000/month in API calls" is off by a factor of 256. You can drop to smaller models for higher speeds, but the API prices drop just as fast, Grok 4.1 Fast is $0.50/M output.
Alex Finn@AlexFinn

I'm sick and tired of the people who don't understand why I spent $20,000 on this set up, and plan on spending another $100,000 by the end of the year IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT LOCAL MODELS AREN'T AS GOOD AS OPUS 4.6 That is not the point. The point is me being able to run a swarm of local AI agents powered by local AI models unlocks a world you can't imagine A world never discovered by humanity before Right now, as you read this post, I have multiple local AI models reading thousands of posts on X and Reddit Hunting for challenges to solve Those local AI models are feeding hundreds of challenges a day to a manager model The manager model (Henry) decides what the company (Alex Finn Global Enterprises) will build. The company is constantly working. Constantly researching. Constantly building. Constantly shipping If I did this with local models I'd be spending $20,000 a month on API calls. With my set up, it's free. I have an army on my desk. Never resting. Never eating. Never complaining. Always conquering. Here is your problem: it's not that you don't understand this. You don't want to understand this. You don't want to think this is possible. Your brain doesn't want to believe this is the world we now live in. It is. And the faster you can accept this and get on board, the faster you can enter the new society. Otherwise, you will forever be doomed to the permanent underclass. Make your choice.

So at a 12% current take rate for FSD (if that is accurate), Tesla would have to sell slightly over 83 Million cars (!!) to achieve 10,000,000 subscriptions. Raising the price of FSD is not going to help his cause. It may not matter though, at their sales rate in 2025 it would take 50 years to reach that goal. Since the incentive for Musk is just in terms of numbers of subscriptions, and not dollars, it makes far more sense to drastically reduce the cost to the point that most buyers will subscribe. $25/mo sounds good. I'd sign up. For example, at 80% take rate, Tesla only needs 12.5M sales. That sounds a lot more doable. And only take a few years. So according to the numbers, he needs to dramatically cut the price of FSD subscription not increase it.

NEWS: Tesla has officially discontinued Autopilot in the U.S. and Canada. All new car purchases now come standard with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control. The online configurator has now been updated to allow buyers to choose the $99/month FSD subscription, while still offering the option to purchase FSD outright for $8,000 until February 14th. New Tesla vehicles purchases still come with a 30-day free trial of FSD (Supervised).

@BackwellMFG @SawyerMerritt Same here, bought 2 Teslas a 2015 Model S used with Autopilot 1, then sold it and bought a newer upgraded HW3 model S. Only reason I bought Tesla was the autopilot/FSD tech. I love new tech, and Tesla is far ahead of everyone else.

Here’s what I have to say and I most certainly hope that this reply will receive a response from @SawyerMerritt or someone @Tesla either on this thread or in DMs. Don’t expect that directly from @elonmusk though that would be so very welcomed! So here I go… I have planned to lease a Tesla Y AWD (cherry red) for months. The plan was to take the test drive and to make the dream happen. Well took that test drive a week ago at the Thousand Oaks CA showroom and was assisted by a rep there. That person severely dropped the ball. I have been in a whirlwind with no one who seems either capable of or willing to get the onerous online application to its end goal so that an offer (their words not mine) is made for me to even so much as get the numbers to finalize the deal. It has been the worst lease process I’ve ever encountered and that says a lot as I have been leasing vehicles for decades now. Literally can’t speak to anyone, threads of unresponsive text messages and unresponsive online application questions. Com lies with every request and and into the showroom in person twice more to try to resolve matters. No customer service follow up. All of this has made what was an exciting decision to lease this beautiful car into a nightmare. And I have no idea why this could be happening. Note that credit score is in the high 800’s and lease history is perfect. I’m completely mystified. And this is what has transpired over the last full week every single day to this very minute as I write. Also I would note that the car I put a deposit hold on was supposed to have “autopilot” as an included feature!!!! HELP!!!!!
