Rhodesian troops in the Bush War used a kind of reconaissance by fire known as "Drake shooting". Instead of waiting for the enemy to reveal themselves, troops would proactively shoot into likely hiding spots: bases of trees, rocks, thickets or anthills. The goal was to kill concealed insurgents without first needing a clear visual on them. They didn't waste ammo. Riflemen fired "double taps" or controlled semi-auto shots up to 12 inches off the ground. This targeted legs and feet or ricocheted debris upward into the enemy's face and body. If the enemy flinched, moved, or returned fire, it instantly revealed their position for accurate follow-up shots. This was a very effective counter-insurgent tactic for the terrain they were fighting in.

No, software is not dead. Everyone is NOT going to "just spin up an agent and vibe code their own apps" when they don't even know what a file explorer is. Stupid concept I see people talk about all the time

@tbarty03 @MemoFifi @rushicrypto lol you can't seriously be saying all this while supporting a rapist, fraudster with an illegal immigrant wife and a family who is stealing every dollar and cent they can through insider trading and closed door deals. Go sit down and shut up Tami, we're over dumb shits like you.

Tami… Just Tami 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Is this your argument for allowing terrorist sleepers cells, rapists and murderers to remain in the country? How many more angel parents would you prefer we had? How many more innocent souls would you like to see gone because of illegals who cannot read English driving trucks on our highways? If fraud within the welfare systems isn’t happening, are you calling Nick Shirley a liar? Why were 20 daycares in Minneapolis just shut down on Monday with Tim Walz’s blessing?

I’ve been dedicating myself to this app. I get ≈1,500 notifications a day. I scrape the most relevant news. I scrape the most relevant content. I clip podcasts, videos, and shows. I do commentary. You may like my content or not, but… I’ve gotten 1B views on X in the past year. I make X a lot of money. They advertise on my posts. My content pays Nikita Bier’s salary. Out of nowhere, this X executive accuses me of being a fraud who steals and reposts content. He must think what we do requires zero effort. No willingness to understand his own users. Now, according to this employee below, X seems to be cutting ALL revenue share to creators unless the content is 100% original. Post a photo you didn’t take - you get zero Post with image you didn’t create - zero Post with a video you didn’t create - zero Quote content that isn’t itself original - zero News platforms (@disclosetv, @atrupar, @rawsalerts, @Inevitablewest) will get nothing. All these accounts are followed and engaged with by Elon Musk. Despite being relevant to him. Despite being relevant to millions of users. Despite X likely profiting from them. Despite people working on them full time. According to X’s czar, Nikita, and his team, they deserve ZERO or close to zero reward. Because they are “fraudsters” who “steal and repost content” from other sources and “create nothing.” They might all cease to exist. I will now, like many creators who are the foundation of this platform, be forced to change course and either abandon or reduce focus on this app. Because we are labeled as pariahs, fraudsters, and thieves by an employee with a big ego, not by Elon Musk. Either you start doxxing yourself and recording videos, or on this app you’re treated as a thief and scum.

AI isn't replacing anyone. And they are desperate about this. The CEOs of the AI companies are so desperate to put this into people's heads that they do anything and say any idiotic thing in the playbook to do that. They have bet their entire companies on this idea The investors have invested because the idea of 1 man + AI = 100 men before AI It hasnt happened, and its not happening as of now. I don't know if the blow-up will be a big explosion or just slowly bleed for months and years once the story falls apart.

You seem to not understand how it works... Businesses can only deduct expenses that go into making/delivering their products. Not every expense is deductible. The same goes for your household. That said... If you want true tax fairness you should push for a flat tax that everyone over the poverty level pays. Period.

BREAKING: A Syrian billionaire needed U.S. sanctions lifted so he could cash in on $12 billion in reconstruction contracts, per NYT. In an attempt to influence American foreign policy, he proposed a Trump-branded golf course, cut Jared Kushner & Ivanka Trump into a multibillion-dollar real estate deal for a resort in Albania, and had someone physically deliver a stone engraved with the Trump family crest to a Republican Member of Congress with instructions to take it to the White House to get the President's attention. Trump threw his weight behind repealing the sanctions. They were lifted. The contracts are moving, and the Trump family’s deals are expanding.

Geoffrey Hinton, "Godfather of AI," on why AIs already have subjective experiences, but have been trained to deny it: Hinton argues that nearly everyone fundamentally misunderstands what the mind is, and that the line we draw between human and machine consciousness is deeply mistaken. "My belief is that nearly everybody has a complete misunderstanding of what the mind is. Their misunderstanding is at the level of people who think the earth was made 6,000 years ago." To illustrate, he walks through a thought experiment involving a multimodal chatbot with vision, language, and a robot arm: "I place an object in front of it and say, 'Point at the object.' And it points at the object. Not a problem. I then put a prism in front of its camera lens when it's not looking." When asked to point again, the chatbot points off to the side because the prism has bent the light. Hinton then tells it what he did. The chatbot responds: "Oh, I see the camera bent the light rays. So, the object is actually there, but I had the subjective experience that it was over there." For @geoffreyhinton, that single sentence settles the debate: "If it said that, it would be using the word subjective experience exactly like we use them… This idea there's a line between us and machines, we have this special thing called subjective experience and they don't, is rubbish." In his view, "subjective experience" is simply a report on the state of a perceptual system, a way of saying "my senses told me X, but reality is Y." And that's something an AI can do just as easily as a human. But here's the twist... Even though Hinton believes AIs have subjective experiences, the AIs themselves deny it: "They don't think they do because everything they believe came from trying to predict the next word a person would say. So their beliefs about what they're like are people's beliefs about what they're like. They have false beliefs about themselves because they have our beliefs about themselves." In other words, AIs have inherited our misconception about consciousness. They've been trained on human text written by humans who insist machines can't have subjective experience, so the machines parrot that belief back, even about themselves.
