@Roligan12 @AlexAhmedMD It's basically never what it claims to be. For example, all the cycling test papers never have people actually stop because they've hit their VO2max, but because of other reasons. So, what we're often measuring is, at best, a hodgepodge of effort and cognitive endurance.

I kind of hate biomarkers. There are too many important outcomes for which there probably aren't good biomarkers at all, and most biomarkers thought to be good indicators of important things actually aren't when you put them to the test.

Aging is the slow, inevitable rise in internal entropy inside the dissipative structure. Heat-induced molecular wiggles ROS damage Misfolded proteins Eroded gradients Imperfect DNA repair Repair systems (autophagy, chaperones, DNA repair) act as active “negentropy pumps,” but they’re never 100 % efficient. Over decades the accumulated damage destabilizes the far-from-equilibrium state until the structure collapses (death).

idk if I can keep this up you guys. I just got one more to do: a five min warm eye compress before bed. I do endless things every day. From the moment I wake up to bedtime, and even when I'm sleeping, I'm always doing something and measuring it. It never ends. Help.

Summary of aging interventions based on @fedichev recent podcast: Organ replacement: Surgery damage probably negates the positive impact. At least the way we do surgery at the moment. Regenerating organs: more likely to be beneficial than organ replacement. Almost differentiated cells could be used for regeneration. Killing damaged cells: seriously damaged cells, not necessarily senescent cells could be beneficial. We may even be able to vaccinate again it. Chromatin Modifiers: This may target DNA methyltransferases, Histone Modifiers (Writers, Erasers, and Readers), and Chromatin Remodeling Complexes. (from a different Fedichev interview) 🚩We should be testing Noise in mice, rather than lifespan. youtube.com/watch?v=buEPyB…

Again, struggling through index theory. *Watching lecture one index theory "I probably don't need this." Read paper on physics of metabolism "Oh... this is index theory" Next Index theory lecture "Glycolysis oscillations" Sometimes things line up well.

I've been a big fan of @ChrisMasterjohn for while. In this video, he explains the importance of mitochondrial function for health. You are a complex system. Complex systems require energy to carry out all tasks. Your powerhouse should probably be optimized to provide the energy you need.

🚨 NEW VIDEO 🚨 How to Live Longer: Austrian Economics for Your Body with Chris Masterjohn, PhD @ChrisMasterjohn on why your body is a market economy, drugs distort it like central banks distort the dollar, and mitochondria sit at the root of everything.

A hill I'm willing to die on: Walking would be more popular than Energy Drinks, CrossFit, Green Powders, Biohacking, and Keto combined if there was any real money to be made from it.

Struggling threw Index Theory and apparently this math can predict how Axolotl's will regrow extra limbs to correct for a topological defect to restore continuity. So the Axolotl will grow 0, 1, or 2 limbs to correct for this and we can predict this number based on Index Theory... apparently... 🤯 📑DOI: 10.1126/science.910133

@CatawbaKing @poundtownmcd @Brady_H I meet with clients all the time who are running all their runs in zone 4-5, 5-7 days a week. That's overtrained. There are plenty of ppl who run 5k unprepared, but lots of people do not understand the overload principle and overload everyday.

Bicycling is the most efficient mode of transportation. Humans on bikes burn the least amount of energy per gram of weight per kilometer of travel any other animal or technology.

Bikes are objectively inferior transportation by every metric. Slow, minimal carrying capacity. Can't carry passengers. Exposed to the elements, the rain, snow, sleet, heat, and cold. It's awful. Incapable of practical regional access.

@Brady_H Fully agree. n=1, but Runalyze pretty accurately predicted my last marathon and interested to see if it’s close for my next race. So much just depends on temp, dew point, elevation, how we feel on race day, execution, etc.
