@DamashiKonquest Yeah get the fuck outta here with that bullshit. Using the "Resident Evil" name as a crutch is fucking annoying as shit with these directors. I'm also sick of Capcom just throwing it out to people to let them do whatever they want with the IP.

Just in case this goes outside my circle:
I love both old and new RE games.
I love horror movies.
I like Zach Cregger's movies a lot.
I'm fine with it telling a new story.
An accurate RE movie would be cool but this is not that so I don't care to have that discussion atm.

Nobody is attacking the fans. All that's happening is that whiny fans are attacking a director for adding an original story to the franchise with his own artistic vision instead of adapting stories that have been told too many times in the games into live action in a worse form.

@waythisis this is the problem with american filmmakers. they always want to add their own "styles" in any adaptations of established IPs. this is going the same way. they never learn. there has never been a real faithful adaptation of any game to film ever.

No Constantin Film live-action Resident Evil has been “faithful” or “canon” nor will it likely ever.
They’re original takes with branding, passing references, & imagery.

I don’t get what Resident Evil fans are complaining about.
We got 6 movies that were dumb fun, not great. A Netflix show most people skipped. And a reboot that stayed closer to the games, and still got hated.
Now Zach Cregger is taking a different route. Not copying the games scene by scene. Not doing another loose adaptation. Something adjacent. Same universe. New story.
It’s the same idea Telltale Games used with The Walking Dead.
Original characters. Familiar world. And it worked because it respected the tone instead of repeating the plot.
That approach makes sense here.
You already know the story of Raccoon City. The characters. The beats. Doing it again does nothing.
A new story inside that world has more room to breathe.

They tried to take the source material and then make it new and fresh instead of a faithful retelling that would be good.

Meanwhile, one YouTuber played an indie game, made a film adaptation along side with the game's creator. Expanded/fleshed out the game's lore in the film rather than making a "reinterpretation" or "put their own spin on it" or "rewrite it to attract non-gamers".

@RuggedTheDragon Yes, in the games it was destroyed on October 1st but this movie does not take place in the same timeline as the games. It is confirmed to take place outside of the games, just like all of the other movies.
