@LindseyGrahamSC Why should our allies who Trump tariffs and insults rescue him from his debacle? Taxpayers are spending a billion a day because Trump wanted to boost his poll numbers & ignored warnings that Iran would do exactly as they are doing. Gas is up $1/gal and this will cause inflation.

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

@LindseyGrahamSC Trump insulting our allies and having trade wars with them has led them to consider that we may be an adversary. Iran would still not be an ally, but they may have behaved better had Trump not withdrawn from the Iran deal in 2017.

To say I’m disappointed in the joint statement by leaders from France, Germany and the UK regarding Operation Epic Fury is an understatement. It is so sad to see western democracies lose their passion for justice and a sense of right and wrong the further away from their shores the event occurs. Everyone in Europe is rightly impassioned about Russia invading Ukraine. But when it comes to the long suffering people of Iran, Europe has been pathetic. To the leaders of France, Germany and the UK: the Iranian people are not wrong to demand the end to their oppression from the bloodthirsty ayatollah’s regime that has American and European blood on their hands. The video has rightfully been removed from the President's social media. It should not have been posted in the first place. The content was racist and offensive and not who we are as a nation.

I pray for President Trump and his team to make the right decisions to keep America safe at this dangerous time. History tells us the right decision is to stand by those who stand with America and sacrifice for our common cause. History also tells us that evil cannot be accommodated — it has to be defeated. I remember how sick to my stomach I felt when we abandoned our people in Benghazi. I’ll hold that against Hillary Clinton til my dying day. Our people have to include those who would be a friend of America in the face of oppression: the protestors in Iran and the brave Kurds. These are difficult decisions. But to abandon the Iranian people and the brave Kurds would be, in my view, Benghazi times a million. @AriFleischer One hand was on his phone, the other was in the air attempting to block teargas. Apparently he didn't just go limp when enraged agents were beating him to the ground. No reason for agents to attack him, he was just filming and then attempting to help a teargassed/shoved lady.

When confronted by law enforcement, Alex Pretti should have immediately complied, kept his hands visible and away from his holster, and he had a duty to say he was carrying a concealed weapon. He would have been temporarily disarmed and probably not even arrested. Carrying a concealed weapon comes with responsibilities, especially during any interaction with the police.

@SenJohnCurtis It is clear that officers were not in danger in either Renee Good or Alex Pretti's homicides. Renee was trying to slowly drive away after conflicting orders from agents, Alex was just trying to help a teargassed/shoved lady (and filming). No reason to beat him and then shoot.

I’ve worked hard to be your eyes, ears, and voice.   We must have a transparent, independent investigation into the Minnesota shooting, and those responsible—no matter their title—must be held accountable. Officials who rush to judgment before all the facts are known undermine public trust and the law-enforcement mission.   I disagree with Secretary Noem’s premature DHS response, which came before all the facts were known and weakened confidence. I will be working with a bipartisan group of senators to demand real oversight and transparency, including supporting calls from @RandPaul for leaders of these operations to testify, so trust can be restored and justice served.
