I don't see much people dancing on his grave. I see people responding to the disillusioned fans who think the Rockets regret letting him go when he is exactly the same player he has been for five straight years: a below average guard with poor efficiency, who is capable of having a really good night once in a while.

IDK, but it seems a little excessive to dance on the grave of a guy on the 8th seed for having a 47% TS against the best defense in the league while our 2x All-Star center has a 50% TS against Deandre Ayton.

@SamQuinnCBS When will it occur to you that tanking is a non-viable strategy? It didn’t help the Pistons (who had to sign free agents and await the 13th pick in the draft become good) and it hasn’t helped the Jazz, who refused to win WITH a playoff team on its roster. Flat lottery=no tanking

This is gonna end with teams eagerly tanking out of the play-in, a playoff team getting a generational prospect, and another round of “how do we fix this?” in five years. At that point depending on the nature of the impending calamity, we either steepen the odds or try the wheel.
Fullcourtpass@Fullcourtpass

A “heavy front runner” has emerged in draft lottery reform to end tanking, per @sam_amick - Change the lottery to 18 teams instead of current 14 - Bottom 10 teams have 8% chance of top pick - Remaining 20% would be divided among the remaining 8 teams (nytimes.com/athletic/72340…)

It’s obviously not worth beating a dead horse at this point, but Adam Silver’s fundamental misunderstanding of how he caused tanking to increase in the first place will continue to harm the NBA for years to come
Underdog NBA@UnderdogNBA

"Heavy frontrunner" has emerged among NBA's lottery reform plans, per @sam_amick: - 18 teams part of lottery (rather than current 14) - Bottom 10 teams all have 8% chance at no. 1 pick - Remaining 20% odds at no. 1 divided among other 8 teams Vote coming next month.

@paddingtonpolo Sorry I kind of assumed that most baseball fans would be able to put together based on my entire account being about the Tigers that I’m referring to Kevin McGonigle

I mean this is just absolutely absurd for a 21 year old rookie. And the crazy thing is I fully expect his Avg Exit Velo and Hard Hit % to increase once the power starts kicking in more. We have a generational talent on our hands.

@jackfrank_jjf What good is it tanking games on purpose to be a bottom 5 team if you get the same odds as the 10th team?

@jackfrank_jjf Can't believe there aren't more people that understand that the lottery is causing more tanking than if there was no lottery. Blows me away man.

No you have it completely backwards. With no lottery there is ONE team who can get the top pick. And they have to have the WORST record. Right now there are ten teams with a percentage chance at being GIFTED the top pick which means they only have to lose enough to be in the bottom third of the league. We are incentivizing MORE tanking by having percentage chances at top picks. How you cannot see that is alarming. It's a math problem.

@extremelyhtown @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick Your option is so, so much worse than having percentages. How you can't see that is alarming. Just incentives' the mediocre teams to tank harder, because now instead of a chance at a top pick, if they lose, they can GUARANTEE a top pick. Like, wot.

@Fre3fa11_Ball @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick No, you are overestimating how many teams will try to be the worst team in the league, and even fewer will succeed. People act like if there's no lottery that there will be 20 teams all losing every game. Literally impossible.

@extremelyhtown @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick That's easily the worst option I've every heard. Does not stop good teams losing on purpose to get a higher pick at all. Infact, it incentives' them to be even worse, because now they can guarantee a Bottom pick by losing, instead of just a percentage.

@extremelyhtown @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick So what, teams just pick where they land? May not see teams tank for as long because they could just bottom out and get 2 top 3 picks in back to back years, and then try to win, but you will still get tanking hard on a yearly basis. Will be worse for generational drafts.

@Fre3fa11_Ball @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick If you raise the odds of slots 4-6 getting a top pick, the teams immediately above them (7-10) now have an incentive to lose more than they were before. This is the problem with any system of distributing odds. You create incentives for MORE teams to lose just a little bit more.

@extremelyhtown @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick Well, it doesn't create more teams, as we already have every team not making the playoffs tanking as is. You're not going to just start to see playoff teams tanking to get to 4-6. You may get teams from 7-10 tanking, but every one else is trying to win or atleast compete.

@Fre3fa11_Ball @PandemicPG @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick That just creates more teams that are all fighting to be *just bad enough* to get a top pick. It means teams 7-12 have more odds of a top pick if they just lose a few more games than if there were zero lottery.

@PandemicPG @extremelyhtown @Fullcourtpass @sam_amick I think the best way to get rid of tanking, is to make teams with picks from 4-6 have slightly better odds in the draft, than picks 1-3. Will mean teams at the bottom are fighting to get up from the bottom. You will have bottom teams actually trying to win.
