I don’t think most people fully grasp how significant it is that Chris Mattei took the McCabe/Alberts/Higgins civil case. Contingency attorneys don’t get paid unless they win, which means the single most important professional decision they make (outside the courtroom) is which cases to accept. These cases demand enormous investments of time, effort, and out of pocket expenses, which is why a winning attorney earns a third of the settlement. Lose, and you walk away with nothing…and the bill. Yes, some civil attorneys are more willing to roll the dice on a big payday....Mattei is not one of them. This is arguably the highest profile civil litigator in the country right now, a man who spent years fighting public corruption and took down Alex Jones. He doesn’t take cases for the thrill or the gamble. He takes them because he believes the cause is just and he believes he can win. In other words: Karen Read and Aidan Kearney are f*cked.

As far as we know, Karen never asked Jen any questions while they were driving around “looking” for John. For instance, “how long did John stay at the party” or “did John say he where he was going when he left” or “is there a chance he crashed on the couch.” Because Karen knew John never entered.
