Should I be concerned that my 8 year-old seems to identify more with Slytherin and the First Order than Gryffindor and the rebels?

$625k home 20% down-payment $500k mortgage With a 7% interest rate and a 30-year term, you are paying $697,544.64 in interest. The $625,000 house cost you $1,447,544.64. This is equal to a $4,021 monthly rental payment, plus you pay for maintenance and repairs. Houses cost so much because people can borrow money that’s created with the press of a button to buy them. If everyone had to pay in cash for their home, prices would drop significantly. Most people think mortgages are designed to help them. But NO. Mortgages are designed to earn profits for banks.

@theficouple It’s not an asset and should never be considered on your financial statement. It’s not liquid & You have to live somewhere. It doesn’t produce cash flow, there is no product coming from it, it carries with it endless obligations, insurance, taxes, maintenance, +++

Will never understand why people don't include a home in their net-worth. If the home is worth $550,000 and you owe $200,000 that $350,000 absolutely goes to your net-worth. ...What am I missing!?

@theficouple What everybody in here seems to be forgetting is that mortgage interest is tax deductible. Even if it weren't the correct answer is invest. The fact that interest is tax deductible reinforces that

Let’s say you had $132,000 in the bank. But you also have a $132,000 mortgage at 4.8%. Would you invest the money in the stock market or pay off the house?

Billionaires don’t have bank accounts like you and me. They have art collections,Yachts,Mansions,Stocks. None of it gets taxed until they sell it. So they just never sell it. They borrow against it instead. Live off the loans. Pay almost nothing. Then when they die, their kids inherit it all tax-free. The wealth never gets taxed, It just gets passed down. And we wonder why the gap keeps getting wider.

@hippojuicefilm I mean, these two don't seem to have any problem sharing their opinions without any concern that they may be problematic. Ah, the irony of not shutting the fuck up and having no problem telling others to shut the fuck up...

American takes out a student loan for $8,645. After years of payments, he’s paid $7,450. His current balance? $8,750. He pays $7,450 — and somehow owes MORE than the original loan. This is usury, and it should be illegal

The NBA is officially a clown show. What other pro league acts like this? Fouling the Wizards to preserve the clock up 20 to stat pad Bam’s points... Imagine the NFL doing this, letting the other team score TDs to get the ball back? (@BrickCenter_ )
