20 years ago the world took a year to add 1 gigawatt of solar. Now it takes just half a day. Solar costs have fallen by around 90% over the past decade, and as costs fall, installations accelerate. Nowhere is this clearer than in China 🇨🇳. It now accounts for well over half of global solar installations. india 🇮🇳 last year emerged as the third largest solar power and coal emission are pushed into decline in both India and China. The next wave is batteries. Similar to solar, battery deployments are now accelerating rapidly as costs fall. The US attack on Iran will supercharge this development as all nations will opt for energy independence through renewables. Welcome to our bright energy future! Thanks Gavin Mooney!

@NEI Life’s short… well, a lot shorter than the half-life of radioactive waste. Don’t waste your talent and career on nuclear power! It’s a dead-end job. And people will find you really boring at parties.

To reach Net Zero by 2050, the world needs a "tripling" of nuclear capacity—a feat that is financially and logistically impossible through public funding alone. 🌍⚛️ As of 2026, the global nuclear renaissance is being supercharged by a fundamental shift: The move from state-only to private-led deployment. Private participation is no longer a "support" role; it is the primary engine for speed, innovation, and capital mobilization. 1. Bridging the Massive Financing Gap 💰 Public budgets are often constrained by fiscal deficits and competing social priorities. The Scale: Reaching 1,000 GW globally by 2050 requires an estimated $120–150 Billion in annual investment by 2030. The Private Solution: The World Bank’s 2025 policy shift to support nuclear, combined with private equity and "Big Tech" direct investment (e.g., Amazon’s $500M in X-energy), is unlocking the trillions needed to move beyond small-scale pilot projects. 2. Accelerating Deployment via "Big Tech" Demand 🤖 AI is the new "anchor tenant" for nuclear energy. Hyperscalers like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon cannot wait 15 years for traditional state-led procurement. Strategic Bypass: By directly funding reactor restarts (like TMI-1) and SMR development, the private sector is bypassing traditional grid integration delays. Speed: Corporate-backed projects are targeting 2028–2030 deployment timelines, nearly twice as fast as the historical average for state-led builds. 3. Driving the SMR "Factory" Revolution 🏭 The private sector excels at standardization and repeatability—the two pillars of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) success. From Mega-Projects to Products: Private firms like Rolls-Royce, NuScale, and TerraPower are treating reactors as manufactured products rather than bespoke civil engineering projects. Cost Reductions: Private-led manufacturing is projected to bring SMR costs down to $65/MWh, making them competitive with natural gas and renewables while providing 24/7 reliability. 4. Overcoming "First-of-a-Kind" (FOAK) Risk 🛡️ Governments are now using private participation to share the technical and financial risks of new designs. Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs): Models like India’s Bharat Small Reactor (BSR) program—where the state provides the design and O&M while private partners provide land and capital—are becoming the global blueprint for de-risking the "first" units. "The 2026 nuclear landscape proves that energy security is too big for governments to handle alone. The integration of private capital efficiency with public regulatory oversight is the only pathway to a decarbonized future." The Verdict: Without private participation, nuclear energy remains a slow-moving strategic asset. With it, nuclear becomes a scalable, rapid-response solution to the global climate and AI power crisis. 🚀 Explore the global investment roadmap in our 2026 Market Highlights: 👉 #reports" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nuclearbusiness-platform.com/#reports #NuclearEnergy #PrivateEquity #SMR #AI #EnergyTransition #NetZero #Investment #Innovation #CleanEnergy #Infrastructure #Sustainability #2026Outlook #business

Details about the rescue op for the U.S. Weapon Systems Officer, via a U.S. military official: "The mountain top area on the left is where the WSO was hiding (he ejected 5ish miles northwest of there). The right area is the makeshift landing strip where they landed 2 C-130s and had 4 MH-6 Little Birds. "One Little Bird flew to that mountain top area and rescued the WSO and brought him back to the landing strip. And of course the two C-130s' nose gears got stuck in the dirt. So after a few hours they had to bring in three AFSOC Dash-8s to fly out the rescued WSO and the 100 or so personnel involved in the op." 1/2

@RobertJenrick Reform's latest grift, in a country where less than half of the population is Christian. It's pathetic the bandwagons that you lot attempt to latch onto. How's the fundraising going with the US evangelical nutjobs?

Same water. Same tank. But the one on the right has oysters. A single oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day. Oyster reefs in the Chesapeake Bay once filtered the entire Bay, 19 trillion gallons, in under a week. Today, with less than 1% of the original oyster population remaining, it takes over a year. We ate them. We dredged their reefs. We dumped nitrogen into their water until the algae blooms choked what was left. And now we build billion dollar water treatment plants to do what oysters did for free. The Billion Oyster Project is working to restore oyster reefs in New York Harbor. Restored reefs in Maryland's Harris Creek can now filter the entire creek in under 10 days and remove nitrogen equivalent to 20,000 bags of fertilizer every year. Nature had this figured out. We just have to restore the oysters and get out of the way.

@ukreloaded Seeing as Reform is mainly a bunch of failed Tories who "had their chance, and regrettably, they did very little with it", that could make for an interesting outcome.
