Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi delivered his report. First of all, regarding the front line – I am grateful to all our units that are holding their positions and repelling Russian assaults. The high pace of eliminating occupiers continues in April. The Russians are not succeeding in seizing the initiative on the front, and that is important. We are also observing attempts by the occupying forces to regroup – most likely in order to compensate for a shortage of personnel. In this context, it is becoming increasingly clear why military activity in Belarus has increased. According to intelligence, the construction of roads toward Ukrainian territory and the development of artillery positions are underway in the Belarusian border areas. We believe that Russia may once again attempt to drag Belarus into its war. I have instructed that appropriate channels be used to warn the de facto leadership of Belarus about Ukraine’s readiness to defend its land and independence. The nature and consequences of recent events in Venezuela should serve as a warning to the Belarusian leadership against making mistakes. We also discussed with the Commander-in-Chief our further long-range operations. Glory to Ukraine!

Introducing Gemini on Mac. It’s the first time we’re bringing the @Geminiapp to desktop. The team built this initial release with @Antigravity, and it went from an idea to a native Swift app prototype in a few days. More features on the way!

@Adidotdev AI is the end state. Humanity is bootloader for AI. Economy is environment for develop humans. After AGI setuped, nothing more is needed. Pure compute, to understand the universe. After that solve the universe and create a new one with seed of life. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Everyone says AI will replace most jobs. But if there are no jobs, there’s no income. No income means no spending. So how does the economy even function? What am I missing?

The “China hawks”, who favor maximalist AI tech export control, seem to be making a bet that the US comes up with ASI or the “nuclear bomb” of AI within the next two years and just crush China with it, which seems extremely aggressive and risky to me. I think it’s a marathon.
Steve Hou@stevehou

Very interesting article. A lot to chew on. A couple things that really stuck out to me. 1. Acc to this report that the biggest risk to NVidia’s margins and profitability ironically isn’t its technology superiority eroding due to competitors catching up but rather the absolute technical dominance of its hardware-software ecosystem creating insurmountable strategic national security value and inviting more US govt direct interventions from export controls to outright margin or IP influence? Will the US govt want to take a 10% strategic stake in NVDA? 2. Export controls have “worked” insofar as having slowed down China’s AI development. Without access to the most advanced GPUs, China has to spend time and money to reinvent key technologies that already exist in the U.S. before embarking on the multi-trillion parameters models. To Jensen’s credit, this delay isn’t free but may be bought at the expense of spurring a Chinese AI hardware-software ecosystem that’s eventually entirely independent of NVidia. That would be bad for NVidia and he argues also for the US technological dominance. It seems that indeed may be the case bc “NVidia isn’t a car company” that’s easily substitutable but a sticky and powerful ecosystem or OS. Except to Jensen’s critics, that’s also exactly why they want to limit China’s access to it. China was always going to try to build a NVidia tech stack replica from CUDA to the interconnect software like NVLink or NIXL. Delaying China by a few months or a couple years is exactly the goal the proponents of the export controls are after. At that point, as I said in a post yesterday, the difference stems from a difference in existential values.

@Linahuaa In 2 years when datacenters in US will enabled China will can't catch against x50 compute. DeepMind + Anthropic> any AI company. That's it's. AGI in 2030 USA win if AGI. Lost if not. That's simple. Long run without AGI china win.

@Linahuaa China has less top researchers than US. Most AI apps come from US. Politician have no idea what is AI , Pooh Jinping was surprised by invention of AI by Deepseek (which working in HFT area which CPC hate). In 2 years china will not have working EUV. ...

Within 10 years China will plausibly overtake USA in AI. They already have better researchers, energy grid, diffusion, and political strategy- and the gap in all these areas is widening. They reasonably keep pace with US frontier, despite massive compute constraints. Within 2 years, the first domestic EUVs will come online. Once the compute bottleneck is solved, China will race far ahead. 10 years is a very short time. Elon started hyping up level 5 self driving 10 years ago, and he's still stuck at level 3. Optimus bot was announced 5 years ago, and it's still a vaporware gimmick. The trillion dollars of A.I. spending might look like an unreasonable circle jerk, but it's pretty much a necessary hail mary moonshot attempt. If full AGI doesn't arrive within 10 years, China just wins.
