@MikeJohnsoupdo @BlueBob53 @wfdltd @nick_field90 Wouldn't life be easier if that were true. I'm a commercial fisherman myself. I know plenty well what it is to struggle. That's why I know you and others criticising Graham like this are full of shit and don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

We need a Discourse Cycle about how Democratic recruiters aren't seeking actual working class people, but the child of wealthy people who have reinvented themselves as working class people. We could use some discussion on why this is happening x.com/lxeagle17/stat…

Four points on Maine: 1) Mills is a very poor candidate. 2) Platner could beat Collins. 3) Platner is a very risky gamble. 4) Platner is doing best with upscale Dems, rather than non-college Dems — not what you'd expect from a "working-class whisperer" theargumentmag.com/p/is-graham-pl…

@adamjohnsonCHI Also, what the fuck is the centrist obsession with painting "college educated" in opposition to "working class"? "Well you have a degree and are self employed, you aren't working class. And commercial fishing isn't blue collar - cause I with my email job said so". Like... what?

This is very cleverly worded. Here Jain says Platner is “doing best with upscale Dems, rather than non-college Dems” without noting that, based on the polls he links to, he is ALSO winning working class democrats, just by a smaller margin. Brilliant stuff.

@TheMaineWire @JanetMillsforME If this were the old days, the boys in Winter Harbor would have already sunk his boat and cut his gear. Seems like the boys downeast have gotten soft in the last few decades.

@TheMaineWire @JanetMillsforME No fisherman worth their salt has any respect for Billy Bob. He shouldn't be on the fucking water. Makes the rest of us who are actually competent at our jobs look like dipshits like him. An embarrasment to the fleet. He's not a real fisherman, by any definition.

@JanetMillsforME How about you vocally denounce AIPAC, refuse to take funds from PACs that defend Israel, commit to ending ALL aid to Israel, and call what's happening a fucking Genocide, Janet? How about that? While we're talking about "illegal wars". You are funded by those who wanted this

Maine people have already seen funding for their health care go to tax breaks for billionaires. Now Republicans want to cut health care even more to support an illegal war that nobody wants. This has to stop. End wars. Fund health care.
Axios@axios

NEW: Republicans are considering reductions in federal health spending to help pay for a budget bill containing as much as $200 billion to fund the Iran war and immigration enforcement. axios.com/2026/03/30/gop…

@treeaston It's a private club, they're allowed to change the rules as they go as they see fit. But they did change the rules as they went along in order to throw institutional weight behind Hillary. People say it was rigged cause it was fucking rigged. They changed the rules midgame.

i *wish* the dnc were as organized, ruthless, and effective as some of you people think it is. i also wish to be jettisoned directly into the sun because how the hell are we still doing "it was rigged" discourse 10 years later?
n x d@nxd1979

this was a completely rigged election btw. the DNC gave clinton control over the party finances, the DNC leadership brainstormed media narratives to undermine bernie, donna brazile admitted to giving clinton debate questions ahead of time, the superdelegates etc

@ohpwearhaus It's a real "if you're self employed you're not working class" attitude that belies a jealousy about their own labor relations that has nothing to do with any actual real class analysis.

@musepwt I think there's a deep misunderstanding of Maine working class by all of these terminally online "campaigners" and people angling to hang out at the Dew Drop Inn.

@CulRMartin She is not a poplar sitting governor. She is the least liked dem governor in the country. Her own state party leadership has repeatedly described her over the years as the "single biggest holdup to progress in the state"

1. How bad a candidate can Mills be when she is already a popular sitting Governor? 2. Can Platner hang onto his lead when the race actually goes into full swing in late April & May? The guy's got some real vulnerabilities.
