Congo Peace Talks in Washington: The Elephant in the Room No one is Addressing: ADF-NALU The ongoing peace talks in Washington between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and AFC/M23 risk overlooking a critical and destabilizing threat: ADF-NALU. Originally an obscure Ugandan group in the 1990s, ADF-NALU has evolved into one of the deadliest forces in Eastern DRC, killing civilians, burning villages, and even carrying out attacks in Kampala, including the November 16, 2021 twin suicide bombings near the central police station and Parliament. While the US and its regional partners remain focused on the conflict between AFC/M23 and RDC, this narrow approach risks missing a far more entrenched and dangerous reality. Shifting alliances, often driven more by mineral interests than long- term stability, rarely occur without consequence. Eastern DRC hosts about 200 armed groups. Ignoring them, especially ADF-NALU, with links to ISIS (By 2019, ISIS recognized ADF/NALU as its Central African Province, ISCAP), risks a fragile, incomplete peace. The human cost is already clear. On April 1, 2026, approximately 70 civilians were killed in Bafwakoa, along the RN4 route to Kisangani. In February, at least 20 civilians were killed and 16 abducted. In March 2026, ISCAP(ADF/NALU) attacked a Chinese Gold Mine in Mucaca, Ituri Province, killing at least 17 people. A deal that overlooks this reality will not deliver lasting stability or secure strategic investments. Peace must address all drivers of violence, not just the most visible ones. @UnderSecE @US_SrAdvisorAF @StateDept @jumuiya @KagutaMuseveni @fatshi13 @Presidence_RDC @EmmanuelMacron @prevotmaxime @WilliamsRuto @AsstSecStateAF @_AfricanUnion

@bettyMuzalendo Celebrating the FDLR is nothing to brag about. Three decades of terror in Eastern DRC and the spread of genocidal ideology across the Great Lakes are the real consequences. Until the DRC clearly disassociates from that vice, instability will keep haunting the region.

It has been more than 16 years since Rwandan dissident and genocide survivor Déogratias Mushayidi was imprisoned in Rwanda, where he is serving an unjust life sentence for peacefully opposing Paul Kagame’s regime. HRF joins calls to #FreeDeoMushayidi.

Bill Clinton had his alliance of "new breed of African leaders" - Paul Kagame, Yoweri Museveni, Meles Zenawi and Isaias Afewerki; President Trump is building his own alliance in Central Africa that will shape the future.

At the African Land Forces Summit in Rome hosted by @SETAF_Africa, Deputy Assistant Secretary Sarah Troutman’s keynote remarks highlighted how commercial diplomacy advances shared U.S.-Africa security objectives. She also met with land forces commanders from Gabon, DRC, CAR, and Burundi on security cooperation and commercial opportunities, and engaged U.S. companies on private sector solutions to shared security challenges.

Kagame’s Breaking Point: Rwanda’s High-Stakes Crisis - RDF Forced To Withdraw! youtu.be/7_mItDP9Lug?si… In this unapologetic episode, we expose the unraveling of Paul Kagame under immense pressure. His authoritarian grip tightens as he commands ministers like a dictator, while the people of Rwanda and Congo face growing turmoil. We demand Rwanda’s withdrawal from Congo and call on the Congolese people to stand united in their fight for freedom. . #paulkagame #rdc #rdcongo #congo #kivu #bobiwine #uganda #museveni #kampala #felixtshisekedi #eastafrican #m23 #fdlr #eastafrican

US firm Virtus’ acquisition of the Chemaf mines in the DRC is HUGE for America and for the people of the DRC. Under President Trump’s leadership, the US is finally back competing in the DRC’s mining sector. The U.S.-DRC Strategic Partnership Agreement is a linchpin to American economic security! wsj.com/business/in-wi…

@KagutaMuseveni The reason why you failed to develop Uganda despite being in power for 50 years or so, is because you share the same ideology as Paul Kagame - ethnic domination. You’re obsessed with keeping and consolidating power for your family and clan that you prevent others from succeeding.

Today, I met the World Bank team led by Mr. Qimiao Fan, the Division Director for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia & Uganda and the Country Manager, Francisca Ayodeji Akala at State Lodge Nakasero. I welcome their support for the SGR and agricultural industrialization. Railways, electricity, and affordable financing are key to lowering production costs. The World Bank are now becoming Christians, by promoting global affluence & prosperity for everyone in the world.

KAGAME’s INDUSTRIAL NARRATIVE VS REALITY: THE CASE OF MARA PHONE The Mara Phone project in Rwanda illustrates the gap between political narrative and industrial reality. Presented in 2019 as Africa’s first fully integrated smartphone manufacturing plant, led by Ashish Thakkar and inaugurated by @PaulKagame , the initiative was promoted as a breakthrough in African technological independence. In practice, the project relied initially on rebranded devices sourced from General Mobile, rather than full local production. Despite claims of large-scale manufacturing, global exports, and job creation, evidence suggests that operations were limited, demand was partly driven by state influence, and sustainability was weak. Within a short period, reports of unpaid workers, halted production, and reliance on public funds particularly from the Agaciro Development Fund (@AgaciroFund ) point to structural failure rather than industrial success. This case raises broader concerns about Rwanda’s investment model: while the country is widely praised for its business-friendly environment, some flagship projects appear to be politically motivated showcases that prioritize image over long-term economic viability.
