@dioscuri Even better, create a realistic simulation of the nineties and just plug everybody into it. We could also use the bodies for battery power maybe. And we could all live in giant stacks of coffins while robots tend to us.

90s nostalgia is intense enough now that someone should just open a dedicated 90s holiday resort. Check in your smartphones on arrival. Every lodge has a CRT TV with N64 and a stack of tapes. Blockbuster on site. Four channels and a TV Guide. Bennigan’s and Pizza Hut for dining.

@rustchild @SawyerMerritt No insurance company is going to sign off on a driverless vehicle towing 50k pounds on a freeway next to families unless they are very very sure nothing can go wrong, I think this generation of drivers is safe but I wouldn’t start now if I were 18.

WSJ: Tesla Finally Has Its First Semi-Truck and It’s Already a Hit With Truckers. "Truckers who drove it in pilot tests say they loved features including a centered driving position, faster charging and longer range for about $100,000 less than other battery-electric trucks. Angel Rodriguez, a 56-year-old truck driver for Hight Logistics in Long Beach, Calif., recently swapped out a 13-gear diesel truck for a Tesla Semi, which is automatic, for a one-month pilot test. “It’s just easier on your body. It’s less stressful because you’re not really having to engage the clutch and the stick shift.” Big F Transport employs five mechanics to service more than 40 diesel-powered rigs and a fleet of trailer chassis in Wilmington, Calif. “If we go all EV we will only need one [mechanic] to service chassis,” said Geovanny Melendez, the carrier’s VP of operations, who went to see the Semi earlier this month at a ride-and-drive event near the Port of Long Beach. Jennie Abarca, co-founder and CEO of King Fio Trucking in Long Beach, Calif., once worked as a truck dispatcher and her husband is a truck driver, so she knows all too well the toll a diesel engine takes on people’s lungs and hearing. She eventually wants to swap out King Fio’s 27 diesel trucks to create an all-electric fleet. King Fio already has 11 battery-electric trucks from Volvo and Nikola. But the company limits those trucks to shorter trips to and from local ports because they only have a range of about 225 miles. The Semi, by contrast, can travel 500 miles on a single charge, according to Tesla. For King Fio that means two or three round-trips a day from Long Beach to warehouses in the nearby Inland Empire or a single round-trip to Las Vegas. She has 20 Semis on order. “The Teslas change everything,” Abarca said. “It opens up a whole different type of delivery that I can make.”

@PeterDiamandis Another stat that is often overlooked: there have been ZERO fatalities on HW4 vehicles with fsd engaged over billions and billions of miles now. That’s not even a ratio, that’s infinitely safer. I’m not kidding - look it up.

Tesla's FSD: 5.3 million miles between accidents. US driving average: 660,000.  That's 9x safer. And it's only getting better.

@RazorwireRPG For me it was when you run into the “generation ship” that’s been in space for like 1000 years and all of their tech (especially the computers) is exactly the same as the rest of the game. Soooo lazy.

No single image of Starfield better illustrates how toothless, gutless, lacking in grit and texture than this one does. I made the mistake of visiting Neon late in my playthrough, excited about the idea of visiting a sleazy Cyberpunk planet. What I found was a clown show. There is something hollow and sad about the entirety of Starfield's worldbuilding and lore, that I can't even bring myself to be mad about - I'm just disappointed. This doesn't feel like a universe comprised of competing factions and people, it feels like a bunch of empty mannequins shooting at each other over nothing. Everything feels so dumbed down and family friendly. All the edges filed off to make everything palatable and bland. It's sad.

People who don't watch many movies love talking about how there were so few good movies last year. In reality '25 was one of the best years for movies I can remember. Here's my top ten for last year in no order (and I still have a few yet to see):

You remind me of House MD where in every episode he confidently strides into the room and tells everyone exactly what the problem is and then is immediately proven catastrophically wrong. Every time. Yet he does it every episode at least 4 times. Maybe this is the last 5 minutes of the episode where he finally gets to be right? Doubt it.

1/3 According to third-party-sourced $TSLA FSD Community Tracker data, data which @elonmusk has interacted w/ himself, FSD is sharply deteriorating on a "city miles to critical disengagement" basis, going from 4,109 to 809 since FSD v14.1 peaked Oct. 2025 & v14.2 was rolled out.

@FoundationDads It wouldn't be difficult to make an AI that removes genitalia and swearing from a show for folks like you. I could see this being a big money maker, HBO and Amazon could just run their shows through it and have a "family friendly" option of pretty much everything.

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms could have been great. How? By making it so families could watch it together. You wouldn't even need to make too many changes. You wouldn't need to sanitize or sand down the edges. Just drop the nudity (a huge prosthetic dong. Really?) and the harsh profanity. Making something superficially edgy doesn't make it better. Either the creators hate children or have no children. Likely both. But entertainment isn't made for families to watch together anymore. It's segregated, with one side becoming inane and frivolous and the other expected to be laced with depravity. A shame. The show had a good core with some potential. Too bad they decided to tip over the port-o-potty to make it more "thrilling" or whatever.

Gowron didn't have a wife nor child. He heads his own house, and is clearly a fine example of a gay Klingon. Gay wasn't his entire identity, but if people actually look into his history, the obvious is there for all to see. Gowron didn't make his sexual identity his entire life, he did what he could for the empire, and will always be one of the best homosexual characters in Star Trek. Just look at the way he interacts with Worf. Gosh darn obvious if you ask me. youtu.be/7wmyMR9XN2M

@WatcherontheWeb The ONLY explanation for this is that you have a motherboard - RAM conflict or you've got a bad CPU or GPU. My Windows 11 install has been rock solid and I've carried it over, starting at Windows 10, from 3 machines now with zero issues. If the hardware is good the OS is good.

Nope.... That's it... i've had it... I can't do this anymore I've been fighting system crashes every other day, I've had to replace most of my hardware because of "driver conflicts", and it's just getting worse every day.. I always hated Win 11, but I think they have finally boiled my frog... I'm exploring which Linux distro I'm going to switch to Mint and Zorin are top of list right now.... IT's going to be like relearning to use my hands again, but It's unavoidable... windows is going to force the issue sooner or later...

@VoidStateKate There are lots of impressive inflection points in history, but to be living through the one where we create both fusion energy and AI in the same decade while Trump is in office feels like a pretty big deal that a lot of future folks would choose to simulate.

I'm really suspicious of living during this time in history. Like... This isn't random that we're all here right now, at this exact inflection point. If an advanced species could select a time to experience (or simulate) living, this singularly or being the very first humans would be the two top contenders, right? So that brings me to the question. Why did YOU choose to be here?

@ManaByte There are quite a few "must watch / unnecessary" Voyager episode lists that you can find online. I did a full show re-watch using one of those as a guide and it was, in the end, an exceptional show if you cut out the cruft.

I’ve been rewatching Star Trek: Voyager, and it’s the first time I’ve seen seasons 4–7 since they originally aired. I didn’t have time to catch it in syndication like I did with TNG and DS9, so it feels almost like watching them for the first time. They’re changing my opinion of the show. I used to think the series was just the TNG recycle bin based on the first couple of seasons (because it literally was), but I think it escapes that in season four. Enjoying the rewatch.

Do you have an internal monologue? Like… a voice in your head that talks when you’re thinking? For example: While you’re reading all this, do you “hear” the words in your own voice?

Enough folks here highlighting The Witcher 3 in the possibility of a new DLC got me into my 2nd replay, and holy crap does this game not just live up, but outclasses basically every RPG in every conceivable way. How did we get nowhere 10 years out? BG3 and KCG2 come close. Otherwise it's just a sad state of affairs in the medieval fantasy genre.
