@Samfr Sorry, it’s only a bad idea if you have multiple children and are claiming these benefits. For those of us who are taxed soo you can sit at home it’s very fair
Every argument made by those supporting Starmer's position on the two child limit acts as if it's just another policy one might like to do if money was available. It's not. It's a uniquely bad and cruel policy. That's why it's so symbolic.
@sfr_mhartin@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis I’ve never said employment benefit changes I was comparing employment benefits with those who are Professional Benefit claimants.
Those whom never work, have no intention of working.
@tableautony@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis Everyone needs a phone, shouldn't concern u whether they choose to take a cheap phone on short contract or more expensive one on a longer deal. Sounds to me like Ur confusing unemployment benefit with ppl who get other benefits on top like disability benefit..
A few hard comments about the benefits cost of living payments. Remember 40% of people on UC work. Many who don't are due to disability, illness, caring responsibility.
Some in the middle need help too (why I campaigned for energy price not to rise) but don't make it 'us v em'
@tableautony@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis The rate of unemployment doesn't change no matter how long ur unemployed for... The day u make a claim u have the chance to get ur first month in advance that covers ur rent, ur council tax has nothing to do with the DWP. I think u don't understand what ur talking about
@sfr_mhartin@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis Oh and also, for those on benefits seem to be able to get things like insulation, solar panel, new boilers etc for free. Yet if you work your supposed to find the 30-40k the same things costs. Sheesh if the country gives these things to one group should give them to all
@sfr_mhartin@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis Whereas if your on benefits you get ctax paid, housing benefit, cost of living allowances, above inflation increases, on top of your already impressive benefit payments.
Sorry, it’s got to stop. Us workers cannot afford to subside you and your kids.
@sfr_mhartin@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis Nope, when you made unemployed the first 3 weeks are unpaid, you get £0 help with your mortgage, and housing benefit for those renting isn’t paid immediately, CTax benefit also has a number of week before it payable. Whereas those who claim professionally already have them all
@tableautony@cwebbeauty@MartinSLewis Doesnt matter if ur unemployed for 2 months or 8 months, u would not be expected to pay full anything when unemployed. If that's been ur experience then u did not fill in the appropriate paperwork with the council. Council tax benefit is related to ur income, not if ur on benefit
@cwebbeauty@sfr_mhartin@MartinSLewis Soo whilst benefit claimants get enough to save for holidays and iPhones etc etc a person who works gets less because they save up and don’t spend everything. How is that fair especially when benefits claimants don’t earn the money
@tableautony@sfr_mhartin@MartinSLewis That’s usually because when it’s temp you often have savings / last pay cheque coming through, I would think. The longer you aren’t getting a salary, the more it eats into whatever savings you may have so the extra help is needed. That xtra money goes to the council / banks etc
@cwebbeauty@sfr_mhartin@MartinSLewis If your out of work for a short time between jobs you still expected to pay ctax, mortgage etc. Unlike lifelong benefits claimants who seem to get many more benefits than those temporarily between jobs
@sfr_mhartin@MartinSLewis Unfortunately you were the wrong kind of claimant. If your out of work for a short time you don’t get the benefits professional benefit claimants get.
@MartinSLewis When I was unemployed I received £70 a week, don't understand where the notion that ppl on benefits are well off comes from.. I believe it's perpetuated by the government trying to create the US v them mindset. Nobody on unemployment benefit has income better than someone working
@laurencyclist@London_Cycling@RBKC_cycling@theJeremyVine@MikeyCycling There is a couple of things here. Why have the child ride in road, children can ride on the pavement?
As a car driver I might have slowed to a crawl/stopped traffic permitting to let the cyclist past. However in video the cyclist had options to pull over& easily and chose not to.
@lemonslip How do you think the people on half your salary feel. I know doctors are busy but saying you can’t afford the cost of living is a big stretch.
@martin80183289@Dixeyroyal@VeryHelpers I eventually got a refund, after a lot of phone calls, conflicting messages, promised that weren’t kept.
Overall a very disappointing experience.
My account was only for this one purchase due to discount codes. Soo my closure of the account was planned anyway but won’t use again
@verynetwork probably the worst customer experience ever! You have failed to deliver my item for Christmas and now informed me that the item was sent separately and delivered, so where is it? Can’t speak to you either, 70 minutes on hold with no answer, AWFUL SERVICE
UPDATE: On the £900 cost of living payment for 8m on means-tested benefits. It'll come in 3 instalments
- £301 'Spring' 23 (as its for the next tax year, it'll be after 6 April)
- £300 'Autumn' 23 (I'd guess Oct/Nov)
- £299 'Spring' 24 (I'd guess before tax year ends on 6 April)
@boomgames1974@MartinSLewis No David, working People find it annoying that they don’t get help yet benefit claimants do. We’re all suffering from the increased costs.
Yet the gimme gimme gimme brigade get handout after handout. No wonder they never work.
@MartinSLewis Theres an awful lot of people slagging off benefit claimants, because, wait for it, they cant claim benefits. You cant claim benefits because your earnings are above minimum income guarantee. If you want an extra £900 a year? You need either higher NMW or to strike for increase
@Dixeyroyal@martin80183289@VeryHelpers Yup I was eventually told to phone the 0800 number again so after a week of running around I’m back to square one of trying to get through a 90minute queue.
@tableautony@martin80183289@VeryHelpers So as I suspected, they respond to a negative review and say they want to help (to make themselves look good) but the reality is that they actually do nothing, just send you round in circles and ask for information already provided. I will NEVER use Very again, absolute joke!
@verynetwork have an issue with an item not being delivered. Order 658369250717 all items delivered apart from Switch, can you please confirm when i can expect to receive it.
