I shelved her after a crash and a thousand dollar scare. I moved on to more comfortable projects that don't defy gravity. I could leave it shelved, intact and safe. But no, titan dynamics said I could use their airframe in my dissertation. I paid $200 in tariffs for monster ESCs and brushless motors. It's time to crash her or add the coolest flourish I can imagine to my defense, ego, and resume. New motors are gonna take fresh mounts on the arms and re-leveling which was a pita. I'm ordering a gh1.25 pre-crimped because I'm so afraid of another short in the same place. I picked up some 6Ss which should get us to 2x thrust to weight ratio. Should be done before the weather is nice enough to fly. Then hover tests and quad calibrations. After that, I guess you just punch it? I'm so scare to try flying again. ora pro me

In the process of making the algorithm more addictive, the X team seems to have cannibalized most of its useful properties. I could defend coming here every day when it helped me keep up with friends and tech trends, but it's all empty calories now. Considering going cold turkey.

They've now got the "For You" feed dialed in to a degree that's almost frighteningly addictive

@phillippepayant @goblinodds sorry, more specifically I mean it's the only instance I can think of with smoke being the intended visual. but yea smoke from all of the above, and mist/fog/the smoky mountain hydrocarbons all tickle something in my brain that says "magic"

@timpostor @goblinodds If you’re in the wilderness and you see a column of smoke rising in the distance, you know you’re not alone out there. It’s at least a campfire, possibly a chimney. Wildfires also produce smoke but not in an orderly column.

why are explosions so fun to look at on like a visceral level like does something in evolution account for this

@phillippepayant @goblinodds Right there are plenty of instances of smoke downstream of some other utility. Incense is the only example I have though of smoke as a visual.
