🚨There are currently about 1.5 million foreign nationals in the U.S. under TPS designations like Haiti’s, which has been in place since 2010. Some of these “temporary” statuses have lasted even longer: Somalia’s TPS began in 1991 – when Paula Abdul and Bryan Adams topped the Billboard Top 40 Charts. Honduras’ TPS began in 1999 – when Microsoft surpassed General Electric as America’s most valuable company. El Salvador’s TPS began in 2001 – a full year before the first BlackBerry smartphone. TPS was never intended to be a “Hotel California” that allows illegal aliens to check in any time they like but never leave. It’s time to close this amnesty loophole.

I think this is why idealism appeals particularly to the monkish— life & thought become the same thing— but when you are changing diapers, “materialism” seems so self-evident that a debate on the subject seems pointless.

Growing up I specc’d mostly into acute prolonged focus, reading books, being able to read books for extended periods of time, a very cognitively intense but specific form of cognition. Time flies— you read a book and half the day is gone in a flash. Since becoming a Dad, I have had to basically abandon this practice in favor of a diffuse focus, monitoring children & the environment around them while multitasking, not as cognitively intense but so general that it makes time slow down to a crawl & at the end of the day my interiority is like a white noise machine.

No communism is an inherently flawed failed ideology. There have never been any communist states all communist governments devolve into oppressive, authoritarian, socialist, dictatorship, cults of personality our country was formed in reaction to oppressive tyrannical government.
