To recap, AI - Invades our privacy - Makes us dumber - Makes it harder to tell what’s real and what’s not - Weakens data security - Entrenches racial and bias in algorithms which affect hiring, policing and even prices - Results in higher utility costs - Leads to data centers poisoning water and emitting nonstop noise - Enhances and increases cybercrimes - Enables deepfakes damaging social trust - Increases issues involving addiction and mental health disorders - Adds to social isolation - Makes all electronic devices more expensive for consumers - Normalizes the theft of intellectual property - Puts people out of work and - Was used to wipe out social safety nets without oversight But, on the plus side: - Makes shareholders and billionaires richer

@effthealgorithm The biggest JOKE on the public is that these Ai programs can never become Intelligent, they only do what they have been programmed to do, while copying the work of others.

@effthealgorithm - restructures societies - hands the keys of political governance to the tech-bros (if they don't have them already) - obfuscates racial, educational, & cognitive bias to favour the select few - restructures the rules & definitions of capitalism

To recap, nearly all social media platforms - Invade our privacy harvesting our meta/data then sell it to fund the "free" infrastructure we use. They generally sell to data brokers and governments. - The addictive process of doomscrolling makes us dumber and gives us ADHD. - Propaganda and false advertising make it impossible to know what's real. Algorithms make it harder to everything. "Might be spam" label often censors whistleblowers. - Data security is a myth, phones/apps are palantiri feeding Peter Thiel, Stephen Cohen, Alex Karp, Joe Lonsdale, Nathan Gettings's Palantir. - Excessive data harvesting results in higher utility costs (more bandwidth usage + more compute = more money.) - Big centralized platforms provide the constant insanely abundant data AI digests incentivizing more compute + storage. - Provide the insanely massive centralized databases worth cyber crime-ing aka hacking. - Their algorithms financially incentivize spreading falsehoods, dividing, and rage baiting for profit. - Are purposefully designed to be as addictive as possible as more time on = more ad revenue. - In some cases add to social isolation. - All the extra spyware in devices make them more expensive tech and engineering wise. - All social media platforms fed the internet to their AI. They're all guilty of IP theft. - Tons of people have lost their jobs over social media in a myriad of ways. - People are scammed out of millions via social media due to ignorant innocence. Not being able to know all the different forms scams take.

@effthealgorithm I have literally seen only TWO cases where ai related technology has been geniunely used; protein folding and weather prediction. And neither of those two applications have ANTYTHING to do with the "ai" bullshit that tech oligarchs and ai bros are pushing. Literally 0 correlation

@effthealgorithm Alright, that's the most pessimistic of every interpretation possible, and not invalid, just don't be surprised if there are people who politely disagree. And impolitely, because some people are jerks, but still.

@effthealgorithm - guardrails can never work with full certainty, since AI is non-deterministic, so wiping out humanity will always remain a riska

@effthealgorithm The last part abt profits may be transitory… if revenue can’t keep up w the amount spent then it’s another financial bomb and even AI companies are not safe from the consequences
