Well Martin I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve been eating nothing but eggs and (predominantly) ruminant meat for the last 5 years. I’m in the best health of my life at 55 and can hold my own against a hard charging 18 year old son in 3 set tennis match. Yes it’s N=1 but clearly there’s something you’re missing because my diet is meat and eggs only and I’m thriving. Wish you well finding something that helps you thrive as well.

Is ruminant meat the real "super food"? Does it have everything a human needs to survive? Is there any single food that's better?

@BenBikmanPhD What do you suggest with timing of dinner? How many hours should we stop eating before bed?

Of all the times of day to overeat, evening is the worst. By spiking glucose and filling your stomach, you activate the sympathetic nervous system (“flight or flight”). Not surprisingly, this makes sleep much worse.

Just one more comment on the GLP1 crowd. My mother is severely obese. She is 76 years old. A few months ago she went on GLP1s and has lost 40lbs. She is more active now. Her blood work has improved. Is their argument that I should be calling up my mom and calling her lazy and a cheater?

I've reviewed dozens of P&Ls for business buyers over the last few years. The pattern is the same every time - Seller says EBITDA is $1.2M. You dig in and get the real story: - Personal expenses buried in COGS. - Revenue that won't recur. - Add-backs that don't add back. The real number is $840K. And you almost paid a 6x multiple on the wrong one. That's what a Quality of Earnings report catches. Today I'm announcing Bedrock. A QoE firm we are building with the great @girdley, @_robyn_smith, @tydeemer, and an incredible CEO in @bedrockqoewill. Will has years of QoE experience at PwC and RSM. He's the real deal. Here's why we built this: Most QoE firms serve the big PE shops that do $50M+ deals. The search fund buyer doing a $2-5M acquisition gets ignored or overcharged. We built Bedrock to fix that. Big firm quality work. Priced for the lower mid-market. Tech that makes the process faster without cutting corners. If you're buying a business, the worst 4 words you can say are "the numbers seem right." Let's get the real number before you close. bedrockqoe.com

Scheduling in that rest time around productive goal achieving time like a client meeting on your calendar will help immensely. It’s like giving yourself permission to check out. Then actually planning what you’ll do to rest helps too. So you’re doing it on purpose and not trying to decide last minute what to do.

@jane7vale @lowcarbGP Yeah this is where so many people misunderstand. You don’t need as much T3 if you don’t eat carbohydrates. T3 regulates insulin, so it doesn’t need to work very hard (doesn’t need to produce the hormone) when you have very little insulin activity.

@lowcarbGP Would you be able to explain why then my T3 plummeted on a strict keto diet please? & my BP. I'm post thyroidectomy & rely on levothyroxine. Was under impression that DIO1 in liver requires insulin signal to convert T4 to T3 hence mine stalled. Also I have downregulated DIO2.

Ah I’m glad you mentioned our ‘daily sugar requirement’ WE NEED about 130 grams of glucose per day for vital functions ALL OF THIS CAN BE MADE BY US FROM FATS OR PROTEIN, ITS CALLED GLUCONEOGENESIS 👍It explains why we don’t die if we fast !
Nitin Kulkarni@nitienk

@lowcarbGP @DrBPHealth @CampbellMurdoch @KenDBerryMD @rcgp @lowcarb_aus @thelowcarb_rd @drjasonfung @SBakerMD @bigfatsurprise @OfficialADSOrg @DiabetesUK What about daily sugar consumption level per day on an average in an adult man or woman ? Our daily sugar consumption should actually be proportional to requirement per day and not the average levels available in blood. This information needs to be studied in this correlation. 🙏🏻

@tizianx444 @SamaHoole If ketones were preferred, your body wouldn't spend energy converting protein to glucose every time you eat. It defaults to glucose for a reason.

People come back from carnivore to carbs all the time. That's fine. Carbs are not inherently poison. You can include them and be perfectly healthy. Some people do. Some people thrive on it. I have no objection. The interesting part is what sometimes happens next. A subset of people leave carnivore, reintroduce carbohydrates, and within a few weeks find themselves in a very familiar place: thinking about food constantly, struggling with energy between meals, having "just one" of something seventeen times a day, feeling like their willpower has evaporated. They conclude from this that the human body requires carbohydrates to function normally. What they've actually demonstrated is how addiction works. Sugar stimulates dopaminergic reward pathways. It creates tolerance. It creates withdrawal. It creates craving states that feel like hunger and register as need. Coming off it feels like deprivation. Getting back on it feels like relief. This is not your body telling you it needs glucose. This is your brain telling you it remembers the spike. Your body can make all the glucose it needs through gluconeogenesis. It has done this for the duration of human evolution, including all the stretches when fruit wasn't available, harvest hadn't come, and the only carbohydrates in the landscape were incidental. Eat carbs if you want. But when you feel like you can't function without them after three weeks back on bread and orange juice, don't call it physiology. Call it what it is.

@LauranaAngell @SamaHoole That's true for refined sugar. Not for oats, lentils, or sweet potatoes. Fiber slows absorption. Whole food carbs give you the same smooth curve.

Me to client 1: “Looking like you’re going to owe $90,000 for selling all of that company stock” Client 1: “Ahhh man. Think I owed $79,000 last year. That makes sense.” — Me to client 2: “You owe $2,000 due to your mutual fund capital gain distributions” Client 2: “WTF I reaped no benefit from those. There’s gotta be a way around it” 🤯🤯

@WallStreetMav You don’t need any of that. Just go outside to get vitamin D and the rest is unnecessary because you’ll get what your body needs from the animal products.

Since I am doing the carnivore diet really strict right now, these are the supplements I am currently taking. A lot of these are based on previous recommendations you all gave me when I have asked this in the past. Thanks. Anything missing? Or am I overdoing it?

No, that’s a mistake. I’ve been in Ketosis for over a year. I was only 113 lbs so weight was not the issue. I had an under active thyroid. It’s completely healed now. The problem isn’t just weight, it’s insulin resistance. You can’t go back to carbohydrates if you have insulin resistance. You must build muscle and move enough daily for the insulin from carbohydrates to be used in your body. Simply eating healthier carbs doesn’t work.

@WallStreetMav That’s good, if you lose more weight and add in veggies, fruits, whole grains and moderate exercise you wouldn’t have to stay keto.

I was advised by my doctor that I am pre-diabetes. So I started the keto diet a few weeks ago, have lost 20 lbs just eating steaks and eggs, water. Today was my first fasting blood sugar test below 100 mg/dL. It was 96. Keto diet does work to fix diabetes, no medicine required.

@KASimplyHuman @CoachDanGo Perfectly said. It’s amazing how this is not more widely known, especially by these health influencers. Fiber is only helpful if you’re digesting foods your body doesn’t work well with and that’s pretty much all carbohydrates.

Multiple reasons: 1. It’s where most fat is stored, particularly for women, but in general as well 2. Poor posture (anterior pelvic tilt) makes the lower abdomen protrude and stretches the muscles, making the area appear saggy/bloated rather than tight. 3. You don’t eat enough protein/train the area hard enough to build muscle. 4. You need to lose OVERALL BODY FAT (see # 3), and the gut is the last place your body holds onto fat because it protects vital organs. 5. You need to build muscle in neighboring regions that will tighten the skin and reshape your body which will indirectly change the appearance of your stomach/love handles.
