Some games were too weird to become huge… which is exactly why the people who loved them never shut up about them. What’s your favourite ‘how did this even get made?’ game? #RetroGaming

Nothing hurts more in gaming than remembering a game was AMAZING… ....then replaying it years later and realising your childhood lied to you 😂😕😢😭

The inclusion of dogs in The Legend of Zelda series makes the games so much better, studies show.

@exQUIZitely @skamiroth Good observation. My guess is, that there were different teams at LucasArts and they wanted to cover not only one IP at a time. So the guys that made space sims and action games grabbed the franchise naturally, while the point and click guys concentrated on their own IPs.

Am I the only one wondering about this? One of the biggest mysteries to me will always be how a giant like LucasArts - with such a successful track record in the adventure game genre - never made a Star Wars-based adventure game. It feels like one of the lowest-hanging fruits ever: a match made in heaven. They held the rights to one of the biggest movie franchises in history while being one of the most respected and powerful studios in gaming, yet no proper Star Wars-themed adventure was ever made. (I don’t count Star Wars: Yoda Stories as a full-fledged game.) LucasArts Adventure Games through the years: Labyrinth (1986) Maniac Mansion (1987) Zak McKracken (1988) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) Loom (1990) The Secret of Monkey Island (1990) Monkey Island 2 (1991) Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1992) Day of the Tentacle (1993) Sam & Max Hit the Road (1993) Full Throttle (1995) The Dig (1995) The Curse of Monkey Island (1997) Grim Fandango (1998) Escape from Monkey Island (2000)

Once upon a time there were screensavers... and then there was THIS! Jim Sachs released the first version of his realistic 3D Marine Aquarium screensaver for Windows PCs in July 2000. This was a massive upgrade over Microsoft's basic 2D bitmap aquarium screensaver from Windows 95/98. Sachs hand-created the 3D models and fish animations, which helped it quickly gain popularity and led to Microsoft licensing versions for Windows XP.
