My opinion: if we want equitable access to educational opportunities, we should create structured procedural rotations in the ICU/CCU. Not only are they good for residents, prior studies (i.e. by @michelle_mourad) have shown they’re good for patients too!

As an IM resident in the ICU, I felt like my male colleagues were doing tons of lines while I got few. I wondered: am I imagining this? Is this gendered? Turns out others wondered the same. So we decided to study it. The results are now out in @atsscholar. atsjournals.org/doi/full/10.34…
