@arvidkahl @zeeg I really enjoy extracting some data and then throwing it at AI to create a dashboard. A couple of minutes and I have really nice charts and tables. For a bigger codebase I mostly use AI for targeted changes or for investigation.

The nuance here is “how much for whom.” I find that they excel at greenfield prototypes “a lot for early stage” and small scope features in larger codebases “a little for later stage.” Anything in between is hit or miss, and mostly miss. And either way, they need expert engineering oversight to avoid long-term comprehension debt.

im fully convinced that LLMs are not an actual net productivity boost (today) they remove the barrier to get started, but they create increasingly complex software which does not appear to be maintainable so far, in my situations, they appear to slow down long term velocity

@levelsio I'm using custom built MCP tools for the APIs the company I work for has. It's mostly to simplify the calls, return simplified results or just guide the AI to make correct calls. The AI does the job on its own but it takes about 3-5x more iterations without the tools

Thank god MCP is dead Just as useless of an idea as LLMs.txt was It's all dumb abstractions that AI doesn't need because AI's are as smart as humans so they can just use what was already there which is APIs
Morgan@morganlinton

The cofounder and CTO of Perplexity, @denisyarats just said internally at Perplexity they’re moving away from MCPs and instead using APIs and CLIs 👀

@SergiiKirianov Shipped more here also but I also do a little bit of coding by hand. Also I do review code that AI spits out. If that would be frontend code I wouldn't even bother 😂

I built more stuff in the past few months of using AI daily than I have ever built in five prior years On the other hand, I have to read JS and React docs because I genuinely start forgetting how React works and interviews still exist

dear Gemini, yes, I asked you few questions about ComfyUI in the past. STOP shoving that in every conversation like it’s the most important knowledge about me you have. Every single question turns into “since you worked with ComfyUI” - jesus christ, I asked unrelated question

@flaviocopes On smaller projects that's fine, on big ones I would say that's a bad move. Unless you're a js/ts dev then either way you love bloat 😂

for anyone reaching out to us about GPU capacity we do not need raw GPUs we need an inference provider - this includes things like caching our traffic cannot be handled without this

@DevVScode1 I’m sorry I was trying to tag vs code. Can I get a debugger to translate for me. I don’t understand completely. What does the refractor do?

Wtf? I feel like my Claude is hi. This is why “vibe coding” is tough. But what it really is, is learning. I get very frustrated in these moments. My mind can’t fully comprehend. The weight I placed upon myself to finish my app, it was built on the confidence I had achieved in the past. Before I jump to every IDE known to man. If anyone can provide some input I would appreciate it. A simple payment flow at the end of my process has turned into a frustration loop on my part.

@walls_jason1 Debugger is a piece of software (most IDEs have it or a plugin for a specific language) that lets you put break points in code and inspect variables and go line by line checking what's going on. Like why it goes into if statement etc.

@walls_jason1 AI likes to spit way too much code so it needs refactoring. Meaning look for duplicate code or code that needs improvement or tell AI to do it. If you use AI tell it to find code that needs improvement and create a .MD file with what needs improvement before actually doing work.

@walls_jason1 I have nothing to do with this 👀 But first try to understand why your code isn't working. Use the debugger to understand how the data changes. AI likes to produce duplicate code. Refactor it often. Don't let AI fix bugs without explaining why it doesn't work. I'm out of space.

This time X heard my rant and I don’t passive aggressive take it out on people close to me. I get embarrassed. Like saying. I’m mad right now bc I didn’t learn how to do something completely and I am semi dependent on it. And I want to take my ball and go home. But Claude won’t show me where my ball is. I’ll die on this hill: Even on vacation, you and your team should still check in periodically. 2 minutes. Quick peek at Slack. Quick scan of Gmail. Anything urgent? Handle it or route it. If you completely disappear, you simply don’t care. Tell me I’m wrong.
