Subsidies are required to feign a ROI for wind farming. Again, without the subsidies. Wind-farming ceases, and it is doing exactly that--- as should be the case. The money and material input does NOT pencil out. Natural gas knocks the propellers off wind farms. Plus, now that we know the planet is near one of the lowest levels of CO2 in the history of the planet, we need all the CO2 in the atmosphere we can get if we want to make it past the next ice age.

The Trump administration just paid Invenergy $765 million to cancel four wind projects. That brings the running total to roughly $2.5 billion in taxpayer money spent to stop energy from being built. Think about that. At a time when electricity demand is rising, the Trump administration is spending billions to reduce the amount of power that could reach the grid. Trump has spent years attacking wind turbines as ugly and inefficient. He is entitled to his opinions about how they look. He is not entitled to make taxpayers finance those opinions. Seven states have already sued over earlier agreements. Federal courts have repeatedly found legal defects in this administrationโ€™s efforts to halt offshore wind development. The administration has cited national security concerns while providing little public evidence to support them, and judges have said they were not convinced. Strip away the politics and what remains is hard to defend. Billions in taxpayer money paid to private companies to cancel planned energy projects during a period of rising demand. Governments usually spend money to build things. This administration is spending billions to make sure some things never get built. nytimes.com/2026/06/17/cliโ€ฆ

@GDNPearson @MikeLevin Nope! Gas prices in my state are dropping like flies. It was worth a little pain at the pump to me to not feel fear of being nuked. Thanks for asking.

Trump is the greatest enemy of the US: 1. His unjustified claim to Greenland has effectively ended NATO. 2. His support of Putin has ended all claims to the US supporting democracy. 3. His end of all US international aid has ended US soft power. 4. His war on iran has presented the US as a global village fool. 5. His persistent insults of all friendly global leaders alienates all. 6. No US president has appointed more incompetent people. 7. Finally, a man who always lies can't have any credibility.

@MikeLevin Yep, that's a policy he ran on. His mandate was to make America energy rich again by getting more oil and coal flowing so we are not dependent on foreign fuel. Unfortunately, that's the ill-fated predicament California is now in. They import almost all their fuel=higher prices.

Windmills are made of materials that harm the environment. Windmills deteriorate faster than they "pay-back" the energy and environmental damage they were claimed to eliminate. It is actually more beneficial to "the environment" (whatever that actually is) to PAY companies to HALT contracted windmill projects than continue. That is how damaging windmills are to the environment.

$300 billion for the reconstruction of Iran is like launching the Marshall Plan to rebuild Germany while the Nazis were still in power โ€” except the Marshall Plan was worth only about $130 billion in todayโ€™s dollars. FREE GIFT LINK: wapo.st/3SiXQzq

๐Ÿšจ Italyโ€™s PM Giorgia Meloni fires back at Trump: โ€œDonald Trump's statements are completely made up. I am frankly astonished. I don't โ€Œknow why โ the president of the United States behaves like this towards his allies, after all, it's not the first time it's happened. I can only say it is disappointing that he does not show the same determination with the enemies of the West and of the United States, whose leaders he instead treats with far greater indulgence," she said, adding: "There is one thing he should remember: neither I nor Italy ever beg."

Trump on Italyโ€™s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni: โ€œSheโ€™s probably happy I talked to her. I didnโ€™t have to talk to her. She begged me to take a photo with her. She wanted a photo with me so much. I wouldnโ€™t have even done it, but I felt sorry for her.โ€

Happy Juneteenth. What an awesome event at the Obama Center yesterday! Itโ€™s great that both Obamasโ€™ absolutely magnificent speeches were covered live. And the music was . . . well, to live for. (Letโ€™s retire that dumb โ€œto die forโ€ meme.)

This was a love letter from @NYCMayor to the city we all love - a city where everyone is welcome, where everyone can play, where everyone can win. What an amazing day, what an amazing team, what an amazing run. No New Yorker will ever forget what this Knicks team meant to us.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

here is Mamdani's entire speech at the Knicks parade, which is easily the best speech I've ever heard at an event of this sort

@GDNPearson @ianbremmer Drones alone canโ€™t do it. Subject to electronic warfare and weather. Not to mention the fact that they can be easily shot down. A few hundred is a pittance.

trump-iran deal arguably the least worst outcome available to president trump. except for: 1) agreeing to those terms months ago. 2) not having gone to war in the first place. or 3) not having withdrawn from the iranian nuclear deal.

@GDNPearson @ianbremmer The US under Trump has demonstrated no fear in Irans military capabilities. Itโ€™s a lame argument. China wants a stable and free flow of oil from Iran. There is zero benefit to arming Iran.
