@GBNEWS Without a battery you would only make such a saving if you were consuming that electricity simultaneously to the panel producing it which is not going to happen all the time. Typically you might expect 50% utilisation halving the saving and giving a 10yr payback.

@CommunicatorJae @DawnsMission There's an engineering solution. The LED headlights on my car as well as dipping in the normal way adapt to the ambient light so they don't dazzle. The car 'sees' oncoming headlights and dims the lights. And no my car isn't an ultra expensive model it is a small family hatchback.

@aDissentient My electricity is 5 times the price of gas and I believe that's pretty representative of the UK generally so that means I would need a COP of 5 to break even.

75% of Renewables Obligation subsidies have been temporarily removed from power bills. They will go back on in 2029. If you put that cost back on, the ratio of electricity to gas prices is now 5.2, so the hidden economic reality is that heat pumps are a bad mistake.

The 1.5kw/d is instantaneous, if you aren't using it you lose it. I'll let you do the calculations when adding a £2k 5kw battery.
