We are working with our partners to help British nationals in the Middle East stay safe and get home. This week Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP spoke to her counterparts in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar to thank them for their continued support to British people. We stand in complete solidarity with our partners in the face of Iran’s reckless aggression. The Foreign Secretary also spoke to her Australian, Canadian and G7 counterparts about supporting the self-defence of regional allies and keeping our nationals safe. British nationals in the region should continue to follow our updates – link in the reply.

Teams are working with travel agencies including @TUIUK colleagues, and the High Commissioner to Jamaica @AliciaH_1, to support British Nationals on the ground. A delivery of aid is en route and due to arrive in Jamaica this evening.

We’re stepping up UK support for those hit by devastation in Jamaica and the Caribbean with a further £5m for shelter kits, solar lamps and emergency relief. And by chartering additional flights to help bring holiday makers home. We stand in solidarity with all those affected.

.@HMSTrent has arrived in the vicinity of the Turks and Caicos Islands, prepared to assist with recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa. She is carrying disaster relief supplies and equipment, and has a Crisis Response Troop including @BritishArmy Royal Engineers embarked.

The UK Government is mobilising a package of £2.5 million in emergency humanitarian funding to support Jamaica’s recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.

Hurricane Melissa has left at least 30 people dead and caused widespread destruction across the Caribbean. Overnight, it passed over the Bahamas and is now heading towards Bermuda. This announcement comes as the UK Government has unveiled a £2.5 million support package.
