I despise both sides. Politically, I start with the assumption that they ran for office because they can’t hack it in the private sector, and they can’t hack it in the private sector because they are incompetent. Occasionally, I am surprised when someone runs for office because they genuinely care and feel a sense of civic duty, but not often. I also assume that, regardless of the issue, it will never turn out in a way that benefits myself or my family.

My kids, it was usually playing outside with friends—even as teenagers. Hiking, playing in snow, playing basketball. Sometimes they stay at the school for clubs or to play games with friends. In the summer they go to the mountains, water parks, local swimming pools, festivals, the library, and family vacations. The ones that are 16 or older often get part time jobs to earn money.

What vote? Why the hell would I care about what the mayor of Bountiful thinks about an assistant position in Utah County? The alleged controversy is about a position that doesn't get voted on. So why would I care about their opinions? There are hundreds of elected officials in this state that get to choose their own staff. I don't get a say in any of it. If these women want to sway my opinion in one direction or another, they should choose subjects that I actually get to vote on and I will continue to not accept the opinions of anyone who doesn't even live or work in the area affected by whatever it is we are voting on. Now the guy that appointed the assistant, that is something different altogether. I will be voting against that guy, but not because of his assistant, I just don't vote for incumbents.
