With the announced closure of Little Italy in Five Points, another vacant storefront will join the former Waffle House, Firehouse Subs, Pho Pho, and Alchemy locations. Something has got to change. This neighborhood has endless potential.

@hughesfc @bhmalurbanist Perception of crime/safety (whether based on reality or not) is probably part of it. Also, there was a time that 5 Points was THE spot for restaurants/bars until Lakeview, Avondale, and Parkside came along. COVID certainly struck a blow as well.

@nickhasthoughts @Eric_Erins An underrated city for sure. Slow progress and a ways still to go, but it is definitely improving each year. Food scene is killer and Its character is more similar to rust belt cities than others in the Deep South. That is often a surprise to visitors.
