@TheLeeMcLaren @jasonkillens @JBPara999 @AACE_org It's simple, and cost effective. Trouble was, no one researched the positive effect of RRVs. When I worked on one, my non conveyance rates were 65-75 % a month.

@markwright64 @jasonkillens @JBPara999 @AACE_org I think this could work. Move paramedics to RRV to forward attend and then request crews to back up when required. Freeing up DCAs for high priority jobs.

@jasonkillens @TheLeeMcLaren @JBPara999 @AACE_org I remember the "front loaded model " where RRVs went to everything and Emergency Ambulances were only allocated to a small range of incidents that they were needed for. It would have worked if it had been able to continue.

We should aim for “emergency” ambulances to have 100% conveyance rates because we are smarter at targeting how we respond to patients in contact centres and manage the rest of the activity we see in other ways - self care advice, referral to other parts of system such as primary care or pharmacy and use our advance practitioners and other clinicians we employ or access to manage those which need assessment or intervention in the community.

The researchers say that assumptions based on "self-determination theory - creating the conditions so people are intrinsically motivated to do their best work (autonomy, competence, and relatedness) - get significantly better results. The best advice I received when I was promoted was from a grouchy old Superintendent. ‘If you have to use your rank to compel someone to do something you’ve failed. People will follow you because they trust you and not because they fear you’. I remembered that everyday.

She starts from 1.21 at the link below. I feel sure/very much hope that Baroness Hallett will make ambulance-specific criticisms & recommendations for the future. It's hard not to feel particularly aggrieved at how those in the ambulance sector were treated.
