I’ve been trying to get my 85-year-old mum signed on her GP’s app on her old phone for the last two hours with no luck.
Keeps demanding two factor authentication apps which my mum won’t understand or to create a digital ID or passcode. This is digital exclusion.

I listed a really nice leather couch for Free once on FB Marketplace because I was moving out of my old apartment and needed it gone in a couple hours. Probably worth $1200.
This small lady showed up with no help. I had to carry it down to her car. It was a small SUV, you could barely put one cushion in this thing.
She asked if I had a truck and could drive it to her house. I did have a truck, and reluctantly agreed. Nobody was there to help unload it either so she asked me to unload it.
I took it out of my truck and took it to her porch and left.
She left me a bad review because I didn’t bring it inside her house for her.
I should have just tossed it in the dumpster.

This is EXACTLY why people are DONE with Facebook Marketplace… 📦 She literally listed two egg chairs for FREE. Not discounted. Not negotiable. FREE. Clear picture. Clear description. One chair had a cushion, one didn’t. That’s it. And somehow… it STILL turned into chaos. Message after message, people asking questions already answered, trying to negotiate a price on something that costs $0, acting confused over the most basic details. It went from “I’m giving this away” to pure frustration real fast. That’s when she snapped, FULL rant mode. And honestly? A lot of people are saying she just said what everyone’s been thinking. Because, how does “free” still turn into this much drama?? At some point it’s not even about the item anymore… it’s about dealing with people. Be real, has Facebook Marketplace become more stress than it’s worth? And what’s the most ridiculous message you’ve ever gotten trying to sell (or give away) something?

From the files of an Alzheimer’s caregiver. Today my mom asked me at least 20 times where my dad is. He died in 2002. She asked me at least 20 times why I was sitting in a recliner resting. I had a painful surgery last week and I’m still recovering ( barely) She asked me at least 20 times when her parents were going to stop by. They have been dead for 40 and 35 years respectively. She asked me where Paul is 20 times ( that’s me) She wandered around every time I turned my head away from her. She walked by with no clothes on once. She went into the bathroom and locked herself in. All while I tried to watch her 24/7 while on painkillers. At least I could laugh and even asked her if she’d like to dance once. Thankfully she said absolutely not. 🤣 God bless her. Alzheimer’s is a vicious disease.
