The British government introduced its new Data Use and Access Bill to Parliament on Wednesday, claiming the reforms to the country’s privacy regime could boost the economy by as much as £10 billion over the next decade. That's an ambitious figure... therecord.media/uk-data-use-ac…

@Carnage4Life But this Snap license does also get the HW on lease. A fairer comparison would be to price up lease of a Vision Pro and Apple developer license. Not that I disagree with your sentiment: The whole thing is nuts.

Adding a discussion/annotation layer is a great use of the prefixed URL pattern. Path params of websites are a default implicit plugin API. Though it isn’t guaranteed stable, SEO discourages breaking changes, especially if the site has inbound links from print media.

Highest wall socket I've seen in a while. Could be wall mounted air con or maybe a plug in downflow heater. Very frustrating not knowing the origin story

@johncrickett @wrd83 I think this is more of an indicator of the lack of traction that rust has for embedded rather than the success of python per se. Perhaps not a suprise - tools and techniques evolve slowly in the embedded world

@wrd83 The primary languages used to develop embedded software today are: C (~70%) C++ (~23%) Python (~5%) Assembly (<2%) source: embedded.com/embedded-rust-… I checked it out and a lot of IoT device manufacturers are offering MicroPython on their devices.

Did you know that more embedded software is written in Python than Rust?

Humans tend to fail the Turing Test: “Almost half of our participants (42%) decided that their conversational partner (that was in every case a human being) was a computer program.”
