Unpopular opinion: Bruno Fernandes is one of the most overrated players of his generation. I’m saying this as a Man United fan. Forget the stats and the assist compilations. Watch the games and judge the whole package: consistency, efficiency, decision-making, and influence. The best thing about Bruno is his ability to strike a football. In most other areas, he’s average at best. The numbers have fooled a lot of people.

@theactorbobby This also depends on his wingers and striker, in a low block a team actually needs more accurate crosses and compact play this isnt Bruno's fault alone but the fault of the whole Portugal's attack

This is why I have always mantained that United will not be a title challenging team as long as Bruno is their main creator. He thrives on the spaces in behind , but when he’s presented with a low block , he always has no answer.

One could clearly see how he wanted to play his football, he never changed nor bow to players pressure. He said in one of his interviews that he’ll keep playing the same pattern till the players can play it with their eyes closed until then he’d introduce new things. It’s the basic of football, a manager needs a solid pattern first then different other approaches he can use against different opponents. Every top managers has a basic and solid style they play with regardless of the club they join. Even when Man Utd were losing back to back in the 24/25 season, the identity was there and it was clear the players weren’t good enough.
