Burnham: 24,927 Kenyon: 15,696

Reform didn't "chase the establishment to the line". They weren't even in sight of the line when Andy Burnham crossed it.

This by-election result highlights the country's demand for a new direction and hope. There must now be an orderly change of leadership for the good of our country and the Labour Party @AndyBurnhamGM has proved he can deliver the change we need, and that is why I am backing him.

I find this photo of Andy Burnham terrifying. Shrieks of smug conceit and a god complex with a touch of โdodgy pastor who wants your money to save your soulโ all wrapped up in one creepy pose. (And Iโm also suspicious of grown men who wear lapel badges regardless of what they are)

'Sir Keir Starmer must be the only man in the country not to know what this result actually means. It means the end of his term in Number 10.' Reform UK MP Lee Anderson reacts to the Prime Minister's response to the results of the Makerfield by-election.

Andy Burnham beat Reform by over 20%. He beat the combined Reform and Restore vote by 14%. A Trump-style far-right government here after the next election is not inevitable. Nigel Farage can be beaten!

Just arrived to cast my vote in the by-election. Something Andy Burnham cannot do.
