WPTV: Ron DeSantis joins calls for Florida Republican governor debate as party bars James Fishback from June event DeSantis weighed in Friday, criticizing both the qualification criteria and the idea that the party should control the process. “Yeah, there should be a debate,” DeSantis said. “I’ve heard secondhand what the criteria was. The RPOF is rescinding James Fishback’s invitation to the Sunshine State Showdown and all other official gubernatorial primary activities.
After repeated outreach, we extended an opportunity in good faith. The next day, Fishback joined a rival, unsanctioned debate in violation of Party rules. His remarks today in Tallahassee were filled with falsehoods and baseless attacks on the Party, its leaders, and fellow Republicans.
Racism and antisemitism have no place in our Party. We hold ourselves to a higher standard.
Florida Republicans deserve a fair primary process with the same rules for everyone. Our focus remains on defeating Democrats and delivering results for Floridians.

Karmelo Anthony deserves the death penalty.
