Correct. The key here is not emotions. You can be emotional in front of a woman, even cry, and not have it repulse her. It's having CHILDISH emotional expression that gives women "the ick." And venting is a behavior unsuited to a man because it's what you do when you can't solve the problem. It's what you do when you're impotent or cowardly.

This may be a hot take. BUT! I’m not convinced it should take 3 years to propose to someone. Even 2. If you’ve been dating someone exclusively for 1 year & you STILL don’t know if you’d spend the rest of your life with them…. Then you’ll probably end up divorced in the long run.

@dvorstone I am not going to get into why I was upset but (I am not responsible for his reaction as I was not dumping on him either, just addressing a real issue.) But my point is that women who love you can show up for you when you actually need it- if you haven’t sucked them dry already.

@dvorstone I did not “get the ick” because he was vulnerable or expressed his emotions. (I was also not “over it” in my own) But he has never been one to dump everything on me so when he broke, I understood that & did not lose respect for him. I’m not ashamed of him for this.
