@PoorQuentyn I always thought of the Others the way I think about climate change or the bubonic plague. Not necessarily evil in a moral sense, but something that's incompatible with human life.

@TheAlexSylvian I rewatched this recently having not seeing it since I was a teenager, and was really impressed by how well it's held up, so I decided to watch The Grudge too since it's a similar movie that I also watched that as a teenager and Jesus Christ what a fucking massive piece of shit

good bit in verbinski's the ring where he rear windows from apartment to apartment looking at screens and then finishes off with a guy with a broken leg in a wheelchair in case you didn't get what he was doing

@edmundheaphy I think that's the point tbh. I couldn't count the amount of times I've just have to slip out of a gathering without telling anyone to avoid getting sucked into all the endless goodbyes.

@Alonso_GD I fully believe this was an intentional "error" by the CPS, so that they could claim to have lost on a technicality rather than having lost based on the merits of their case.

I can’t find it but someone once described this as something like this Irish Catholic: My guilt is immeasurable and I will never be good Italian Catholic: I do-a bad things, but then the man in the box, he forgive me
Byronic Heroine@byronicgirl

There are two primary types of Catholics: -spiritually Irish -spiritually Italian All other Catholics, based on culture and personal temperament, are closer to one or the other side of this spectrum.

I’ll talk all day about Die Hard being a Christmas movie, but you’ll never hear me make a strong argument for Gremlins. It’s set at Christmas, yes, but it’s really neither here nor there to anything that happens. We still enjoy it at Christmas here though. Why not.

Statement from the Council of The Bar of Ireland: The fundamental importance of an independent referral Bar It is the duty of barristers to be independent and free from any influence, especially such as may arise from their personal interests or external pressure, in the discharge of their professional duties as barristers. Barristers cannot discriminate in favour of or against any person availing, or seeking to avail, of the services of the barrister on the grounds of race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, politics, religion, nationality, national or social origin, national minority, birth or other status. It is also the duty of barristers to accept instructions in any case in their area of practice. As a result, barristers should not be identified with their clients or their clients’ causes or suffer adverse consequences as a result of being so identified. This fundamental principle arises from the Code of Conduct of The Bar of Ireland and is recognised in the United Nations Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers and in the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer. The duty of barristers to accept instructions, sometimes referred to as the “cab-rank rule”, ensures that everyone is entitled to access to justice and is central to trust in the Irish legal system and the rule of law. @CourtsServiceIE @DeptJusticeIRL @IrishLegalNews
