Towards stronger regional economic integration!
On March 31, 2026, in Kinshasa, Burundi, the DRC, and Tanzania validated the technical studies for the Uvinza–Gitega–Bujumbura–Uvira–Kindu line. This is marking another step toward modern and sustainable connectivity in the Central Corridor. The three countries reaffirmed their commitment to implementing this project for opening landlocked areas and strengthening economic integration within the Central Corridor. This railway corridor represents a strategic lever to boost regional trade and provide a sustainable transport.
This major progress reflects strengthened collaboration between the @FPCIRGL and the @ccttfaorg. In line with its Program on Economic Development and Regional Integration, the @FPCIRGL is providing political and legislative support for these structuring infrastructures. The Secretary General of the @FPCIRGL, Amb. @dmwaps, attended in this tripartite meeting in Kinshasa to highlight the commitment @FPCIRGL to ensuring, at the parliamentary level, the removal of legal and policy barriers and the effective implementation of this railway corridor, guaranteeing prosperity in our GLR.
