@tobi Sounds like easy money for a billionaire coder with access to world class talent; build the system on spec then charge it out. Be a hero, prove how dumb everyone else is, save taxpayers money. Odd nobody has done it yet.

@TheStalwart As opposed to other cultures who… don’t? America is the culture that allows pajamas in Walmart and promotes idiots to its highest office. saving face is not its unique cultural trait.

Good time to remind followers not based in the US that in American culture there is a high premium placed on basically “saving face” which may be something useful to think about if you’re trying to figure out how this ends.

@yaakovkatz If you live in a settlement you made a choice to live on stolen lands, to dispossess Palestinians, & to be the tip of the spear of state violence against the people whose land you stole. Your youth throw stones at innocent people and firebomb villages. Fuck off and stop the lies

I have serious problems with the term “settler violence.” It is a generalization that demonizes a community of 500,000 people - almost all of them are good, law-abiding citizens. But we cannot let that defense blind us. What has been happening in the West Bank - like the attacks by Jewish extremists in some 20 locations last night - is an abomination. These actions are anti-Jewish, they are the antithesis of what it means to be Israeli, and they must be stopped with the most aggressive steps law enforcement has at its disposal. Beyond the moral rot, this is a strategic liability. Israel is in a war against Iran and we have a rare moment to unite a global coalition from the US to Europe to the Gulf, but that support is undermined when these attacks occur. @netanyahu knows this and for that reason he went to the IDF Central Command on Friday to try and stop the violence in the middle of a war that needs to be his sole focus. What these attackers are doing is not just criminal; it is a threat to our national security. We cannot defeat our enemies abroad while a violent fringe undermines our legitimacy from within.

AIPAC 🇺🇸🇮🇱
The orchestrated campaign to single out and demonize pro-Israel Americans, including millions of Democrats who are members of AIPAC, for participating in the political process is wrong and fundamentally undemocratic.
Caroline Vakil@CarolineVakil

Asked by @lisakashinsky about the shift of opinions on AIPAC among Democrats and whether he personally would reject money from the group, @CoryBooker says “First and foremost, there is a singling out of AIPAC that is troubling to me.” Says there are Iranian Americans and Turkish Americans who bundle money, adding “There are a lot of ethnic groups that bundle money, and often for things that I don't agree with. But somehow, AIPAC seems to be drawing a lot of attention, and that's problematic to me,” he says. Goes on to say that he doesn’t think anybody should be accepting PAC money from anyone.

@MaytalKowalski How many mosque were defending or praising or fundraising for 9/11? How many Muslims were invited into halls of power, unchallenged, to either support 9/11 or deny that it was happening or justify why it happened? …..

We strongly condemn @AJCGlobal for engaging in genocide denial. Every major human rights organization in the world now recognizes that the Israeli apartheid government has committed a genocide in Gaza. So do many Americans. Only an organization that does not view Palestinians as equal human beings--and that prioritizes defending Israel from criticism over defending human rights from war criminals--could still lie about the genocide. The AJC is free to continue denying reality, but it should not expect others to join in, especially @NYCMayor Mamdani, who was elected by the people of New York City while openly recognizing the Gaza genocide as a genocide.
American Jewish Committee@AJCGlobal

Mayor Mamdani’s repeated use of the “genocide” accusation against Israel is not just wrong - it’s dangerous. It distorts reality and fuels antisemitism at a moment when Jews are already under threat.

Leaders who claim to stand for human rights should not use rhetoric that puts Jewish communities at risk. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry…

.@ZohranKMamdani has a rare ability to connect the struggle for justice across generations and across borders. His depth of knowledge about the Irish experience — and the centuries of persecution endured under English rule — is both striking and deeply meaningful. For my family, this history isn’t abstract. It’s personal. Our politics were shaped by that struggle for independence and dignity. My great-granduncle, Charles Carrigan, died on the steps of the General Post Office during Easter 1916. My great-grandfather, like so many others, was forced to leave Ireland in the wake of the civil war that followed independence. That’s why it means so much to see a New York mayor who understands this history in a real way — not as a talking point, but as lived experience and shared legacy. There’s something especially powerful about that understanding coming from an immigrant New Yorker, reflecting the same journey that brought so many Irish families, including my own, to this city. When my other grandfather came to America, his pride in Ireland and his culture could not have been higher. It was built on the shoulders of those who came before him. Our current mayor makes us all proud — and for so many new New Yorkers, it must be inspiring to see a leader who can both guide this city and bring people together across histories, cultures, and experiences. @EdWorkforceCmte Antisemitism? Or do you mean dissent and criticism of Israel? If campuses are antisemitic why is it that it is almost exclusively Muslims & Palestinian sympathizers are being banned, removed, beaten, detained, arrested, expelled, criticized by those in power at the institutions?

@DuaneBratt Never says the word. He is blaming two power structures (Israel, media) that have undue influence over US policy. To claim this is alluding to ‘Jews’ is disingenuous & unfair/biased, because a similar statement that blamed any other nation + the media would not be misconstrued.

The military says it killed two Palestinians who were hurling stones at Israeli motorists in the West Bank this evening. According to the IDF, snipers from the 636th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit identified "three terrorists throwing stones at Israeli vehicles on a main road" near the town of Sinjil. The troops opened fire on the Palestinians, killing two, the army says. "IDF troops launched a pursuit after the other terrorist," it adds.

@davidsenra @pmarca One of the most ignorant takes on a generally ignorant platform. To state/repeat/accept a claim like this shows a shocking lack of intellectual depth and knowledge of history. The most basic understanding of history an our intellectual and cultural traditions would refute this.

Great men of history had little to no introspection. The personality that builds empires is not the same personality that sits around quietly questioning itself. @pmarca and I discuss what we both noticed but no one talks about: David: You don't have any levels of introspection? Marc: Yes, zero. As little as possible. David: Why? Marc: Move forward. Go! I found people who dwell in the past get stuck in the past. It's a real problem and it's a problem at work and it's a problem at home. David: So I've read 400 biographies of history’s greatest entrepreneurs and someone asked me what the most surprising thing I’ve learned from this was [and I answered] they have little or zero introspection. Sam Walton didn't wake up thinking about his internal self. He just woke up and was like: I like building Walmart. I'm going to keep building Walmart. I'm going to make more Walmarts. And he just kept doing it over and over again. Marc: If you go back 400 years ago it never would've occurred to anybody to be introspective. All of the modern conceptions around introspection and therapy, and all the things that kind of result from that are, a kind of a manufacture of the 1910s, 1920s. Great men of history didn't sit around doing this stuff. The individual runs and does all these things and builds things and builds empires and builds companies and builds technology. And then this kind of this kind of guilt based whammy kind of showed up from Europe. A lot of it from Vienna in 1910, 1920s, Freud and all that entire movement. And kind of turned all that inward and basically said, okay, now we need to basically second guess the individual. We need to criticize the individual. The individual needs to self criticize. The individual needs to feel guilt, needs to look backwards, needs to dwell in the past. It never resonated with me.
