Ah, the ol’ “Hitler wasn’t elected” and “both sides are the same” combo platter. Let’s clear a few things up before the revisionist history spreads like wildfire. Hitler wasn’t elected? Half-truth alert. Yes, Hitler was appointed Chancellor by President Paul von Hindenburg in January 1933. But that didn’t happen in a vacuum. His Nazi Party had become the largest party in the Reichstag after winning 37% of the vote in July 1932 and 33% in November. He didn’t seize power from nowhere, he rose through democratic processes that were then exploited and dismantled from the inside. That’s how fascism often works: it votes itself in, then abolishes the vote. Chuck Schumer’s comment ≠ dismantling the judiciary. Yes, Schumer said something dumb and heated outside the Supreme Court in 2020 regarding Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh and he was publicly rebuked even by Chief Justice Roberts. The difference? Schumer didn’t try to pack the courts, ignore legitimate subpoenas, push fake electors, or plan to dismantle the administrative state with a Christian nationalist agenda (see: Project 2025). TDS? Cute, but projection is loud. You can call it “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” but pointing out fascist behaviors, anti-democratic power grabs, and incitement to violence (see: Jan 6th) isn’t deranged, it’s called paying attention. So no, Chuck getting spicy on a mic isn’t the same as Donald Trump trying to overthrow the results of a democratic election, promising to pardon insurrectionists, or literally planning to fire judges and prosecutors who don’t agree with him if he gets back into office.
