NEW: Three-time US Olympian arrested for allegedly vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. 67-year-old former Olympic canoeist David Hearn says he was finishing up a 52-mile bike ride when he went by the reflecting pool. Hearn claims he was simply touching a detached piece of the pool's liner when he was arrested by Park Police. "I didn’t destroy or break or peel anything. By the time I realized what was going on, I was being put in handcuffs," Hearn claimed in an interview with the Washington Post. Journalist Emily Miller, however, accused Hearn of grabbing the "hose that female National Park Service workers were using to clear the algae." It's unclear if Hearn will face charges.

⭕️ President Trump is privately complaining that Israel is trying to drag the U.S. back into war with Iran by continuing attacks in Lebanon despite the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, according to a report by Zeteo, which cites four sources: three people with direct knowledge of Trump’s discussions and one person briefed on the matter. “He’s swearing a lot about it,” a close Trump adviser reportedly told Zeteo. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 The U.S. just pushed back on Iran's Hormuz claim CENTCOM told Al Jazeera Arabic straight up: Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. And they're not just saying it for show. U.S. forces are keeping a close eye on things to make sure ships can keep moving through like normal. It comes right after Iran's Revolutionary Guard had said the strait was shut, blaming it on Israel's attacks down in southern Lebanon. Perhaps. But it's not Iran or the US who decide that the strait is open--it's shipping and insurance companies. Since Wednesday the number of vessels moving through (esp. on the southern route, which JMIC has recommended) has increased. Will the Iranian announcement be enough to deter them? Or will Iran need to resort to force and directly violate the MOU's terms?

The lesson some Trump supporters fail to learn … you cannot bomb your way to peace if bombing was your only goal. Trump lost this war & ended it bc the world economy was going to collapse. His incompetent @SecWar never planned to keep the Strait of Hormuz open & protect global trade. He had no strategy except kill & pray Iran would collapse. Iran now controls 20% of the world’s energy flow. Trump had to fold. That’s the reason we lost.

Meaning the emergence of a multipolar world order, erosion of the US’s reserve currency status, rise of China etc.

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 The Iran deal may be a surrender in disguise, built to buy time before the next war... Glenn Diesen isn't convinced the memorandum of understanding ever gets implemented in full. His suspicion is that Washington is mostly buying time. His reasoning is pointed. Since Trump has openly admitted to a serious fuel shortage, Glenn reads the agreement as essentially a surrender, designed to ease pressure on oil prices and let the US replenish its strategic reserves. From there, he expects Washington could stretch the process out before circling back to military conflict, especially since he sees little real appetite in the US for actually coexisting with Iran. @Glenn_Diesen

It’s curious to me to see people claiming Iran is now “overplaying their hand”… What’s the downside? Returning to the dueling blockade benefits Iran. More bombing is worthless. Operation Freedom 2 was downright dangerous and foolish. Unless the U.S. is planning to put boots on the ground, which we have made abundantly clear there is zero political will for whatsoever… How CAN Iran overplay their hand?

BREAKING: Iran has declared that ships cannot cross the Strait of Hormuz without its permission, setting the stage for future tolling arrangements by saying it could introduce “insurance fees," per Bloomberg. Details include: 1. All vessels that transit the Strait of Hormuz will have to secure a mandatory insurance policy 2. This policy is currently free for the next 60 days but could involve charges in the future 3. Iran also said ships must follow its prescribed route and that alternatives are prohibited The MoU signed with the US only says that transit through the Strait of Hormuz would be free for the duration of its 60 day term. It appears Iran is preparing for long-term control of Hormuz.

@WeTheBrandon You were right Weichert. It’s likely a new forever war. Iran won’t let the US Symbolically seperate from their proxy Israel. So unless Israel retreats from Lebanon altogether, the MOU is dead on arrival, Israel’s retreat would be a catastrofic defeat in the region’s eyes.
