@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Wow the Musk fanboys are rabid. I love me FSD for roadtrips, but stuff like this turn here is a very obvious weakness for FSD. Poorly marked lane closures? Or whatever those cones are supposed to be for. FSD clearly going to fast, my gut tells me it wanted to continue straight.

@SawyerMerritt FSD is very nice, it’s so nice on a long trip. But this is extremely dangerous here. 4 seconds means right about when this clip starts. FSD quite obviously is going too fast here to make this turn. Based on my own experience with FSD, I think it wanted to continue straight here.

UPDATE: Elon Musk says the driver of this Cybertruck disengaged Autopilot four seconds before crashing, which means the driver was manually driving during this entire clip that Fox shared. Elon: "As anyone knows who uses it, that video is not how Autopilot drives."

@stickzszn Can we talk also about the cameraman. He doesn’t even try to protest. Immediately nods at Amber and puts the camera down. In a world of assholes… be an Amber and that cameraman. Somethings are more important than television. Kudos to both of them for recognizing the moment.

@qdsalchow @mayankmrvi The sting of not getting a medal will hurt her today… tomorrow.. however long for sure. But when the dust settles… she’ll end up as maybe Top 6 in the WORLD at 26… not too shabby. For what she did for the sport… she should be damn proud of her legacy… medal or not!

@FixingEducation If both students don’t understand the concept, they both fail the class. If the student that tried and got a 50% ends up improving, they can pass the class. The person who didn’t try still fails. But if they’re both going to fail does it matter if it’s 50% or 0? Tests > Homework

Actual Conversation… TEACHER: So, if the student didn’t attempt the assignment at all, I have to give them a 50% because a ZERO is too difficult to get out of? ADMIN: Yes TEACHER: Okay, what if a student did try, but earned a 50%. What grade should they get? ADMIN: 50% 🤡🙄

@TechOperator The obvious ideal solution would be a gas car with FSD. I’d absolutely love to be able to have my car drive itself but only be needing 5 minute stops instead of 15-30. My 11 hour drive turned into 12 with my Tesla Model Y AWD. It’s pure fantasy to suggest otherwise.

@ChadMoran It’s either a safety feature or a convenience feature. If you argue hard that FSD is most valuable for safety… that’s saying Tesla is making you pay almost $1200 a year for that safety. If it’s a QoL feature though that’s not an arguement. An interesting debate to be had here.

@ChadMoran I'm not sure I fully agree, there are definitely situations where FSD can prevent accidents that the base safety features would not (side impact from red light runner, etc). Tesla's data separates "Autopilot safety features" from FSD too. Agree Autopilot should be free though!

@StonkKing4 Got my Model Y on 12/23/24. Since then I had to have mobile service come and replace a faulty charge port sensor for the touch to open. I also had to have them repair the driver side B pillar interior after it was installed poorly. Love the car, but the build quality is eh.

@flatland_sports The same thing happened last year. You’re missing the most obvious answer… regular season ended almost 2 months ago. We’ve had 3 games since new years. The playoffs is wayyyyyy too long. It’s not talked about because people have moved into NFL post season by now.

I know this is a joke but seriously, it should be the story of the decade. One team is a 10 seed Cinderella Story and the other is looking to win it's first ever national championship. ESPN is so butt hurt by not getting an SEC team in that the game is almost not being talked about at all.
ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴇᴄ: ɪᴛ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴍᴇᴍᴇꜱ ᴍᴏʀᴇ@JustMemesMore

Is it just me or is no one even excited for this national championship game? A team with zero 5 stars vs. the 3rd best team in the ACC..? What exactly is the appeal?

@peterrhague It’s a good thing that this number won’t be even close to being real. Even by 2030 I doubt we get much above, if at all, an average cadence of once a day. I’d take the under on 500 a year in 2030 easily.

OK so we are taking upwards of 9000 (!!??) Starship launches per year, which will burn about 10 million tonnes of methane. That is a crazy figure, but is a still tiny fraction of global usage of gas, and nowhere near the direct CO2 emissions of civil aviation. Still, I would expect that even if this is technically feasible, there will be regulatory barriers. At a certain point even people who aren’t save-the-seals fanatics will complain about the noise, disruption, airspace closures etc. Launching from platforms in the ocean I guess solves some of these problems, but I still don’t expect a scale up like this to go without a political hitch. Greenpeace would probably turn up and make a nuisance of themselves!
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@ApoStructura In about 3 years or so, Starship will launch more than once per hour

@Mookafish The fundamental challenge I see is that if an airlines engine fails, it can glide and theoretically land safely. If Starship can’t relight there is no passive safety. In an emergency an airline can be passively safe. Starship has no way of doing that, as far as I can see it.

Catching a manned Starship with the tower seems dangerous because it relies on complex turbomachinery and GNC but, at this point, Falcon 9 lands more reliably than many rockets can even get off the ground. There are so many things that could go wrong on an aircraft, causing it to crash crash, but good engineering and redundant systems have made commercial air travel the safest form of transport by many metrics. We've already seen how robust Starship's GNC and structure is. If SpaceX can make Raptor and the heat shield a bit more reliable, I don't see why Starship can't become an incredibly safe form of transport to and from space.

@niccruzpatane Correct Headline: Tesla FSD v14 takes ramp too quickly in icy conditions requiring the need to counter-steer. I will say that in PA generally it does pretty well with snow, but this is an issue I’ve experienced too. It takes ramps way too fast when there’s ice but not snow.

@NFL_DovKleiman BREAKING: To watch the entire NFL Wild Card Weekend you need to Cable: $70-$100/mo Prime: $14.98/mo Why do people unironically post this and pretend that cable alone isn’t well over $50 for most people unless you’re getting a bare bones package that doesn’t include ESPN

To watch every game, you’ll need each of the following streaming services: • ESPN: $29.99/mo • Amazon Prime: $14.99/mo • Peacock: $11.99/mo • Paramount+: $11.99/mo • Fox One: $19.99/mo $88.95 to be exact. @billykyle @rajuvamsi007 Definitely depends on where. I’ll just say I drive the turnpike portion west of Bedford 2 days a week minimum for work, up to 80 you’re always good. 82-83 is almost always okay. 85 you’re risking it. Anything over 85 you’re dead unless a cop is feeling real uninterested that day.

So it turns out that if you just DON'T INCLUDE most of the data, you can make the data look better than it is. I wouldn't expect a guy like ZH to understand this because he huffs paint, but for the rest of you, hopefully you can figure this out. Don't worry though, guys, even though the BLS "couldn't" collect any data because of the shutdown, they still managed to track gas - the one thing that's been falling. What a lucky break!
