@Nino_Merica If that were the case, why did it take until 2021 for the used car market to skyrocket? Hmmm, I don’t remember, what world event occurred in 2020-2021?

In 2009, the government took 690,000 perfectly good cars and destroyed them on purpose. Not recycled. Not resold. Wrecked beyond repair. Dealers were forced to pour sodium silicate straight into the engines so they’d seize up and never run again. Cars that a single mom could have bought for $3,000 got turned into scrap metal because Washington decided they knew better. They called it Cash for Clunkers. $3 billion of your money. Sold to you as saving the planet and helping the economy. What it actually did was wipe out the bottom of the used car market overnight. That reliable $3,000 Honda Civic? Gone. Now it’s $7,000 if you can even find one. The working people this program was supposed to help got priced out of owning a car at all. Single moms. College kids. Guys working minimum wage trying to get to their shift. The exact people politicians pretend to care about in every campaign ad. Used car prices jumped 30% between 2009 and 2014. That’s not an accident. That’s what happens when the government destroys half a million vehicles and then acts surprised when the price goes up. And the environmental win they bragged about? The old cars got around 15 to 17 MPG. The new ones got 24 to 25. You wiped out 690,000 cars to bump the average up 8 miles per gallon. That’s not saving the planet. That’s central planning with a green bumper sticker. But here’s the part nobody talks about. Cash for Clunkers is the reason your car payment is what it is today. It normalized 84-month loans. Seven years of payments on something that starts losing value the second you drive it off the lot. Turned cars into anchors chained to working people’s paychecks. Bureaucrats popped champagne because dealer lots cleared out. Meanwhile a whole generation got locked out of affordable transportation and locked into debt they’re still paying on. 🇺🇸 Every time the government says they’re here to help, check your wallet before they leave.

An old, but apt fable: A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I am sorry, but I couldn't help myself. It's my character." @Wikipedia

Politico: Darializa Avila Chevalier, a democratic socialist running against Rep. Adriano Espaillat in next month’s primary election, called former President Joe Biden “a rapist” and “a war criminal” on social media in 2020 Besides Biden, Avila Chevalier has targeted former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Mayor Bill de Blasio in her diatribes, slamming the former as “a cop” and the latter as a racist, the screengrabs show.

@citrinowicz @TimInHonolulu I’m at a loss to see how Trump could strike any deal that “preserves his strategic assets”. Tehran is simply not going to agree to any meaningful change to its enrichment program, why would they? ANY deal without significant reduction in nuclear capability is a loss for Trump.

Trump's Endgame With Iran If President Trump is genuinely interested in ending the crisis, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and engaging Iran in serious negotiations over limits on its nuclear program, then even an imperfect agreement could achieve those objectives. But if Trump believes he can extract significantly more concessions from Tehran through continued pressure, sanctions, military threats, and economic coercion, then prolonging the confrontation carries substantial risks. The events unfolding in the Gulf in recent days demonstrate how quickly escalation can take on a life of its own, potentially dragging both sides into a broader conflict neither originally intended. The dilemma cannot be postponed indefinitely. More time is unlikely to fundamentally alter Iran's negotiating position. From Tehran's perspective, it has already reached the outer limits of what it is prepared to concede. Iranian leaders believe they have weathered the pressure campaign and now hold a stronger hand than Washington assumes. As a result, they are unlikely to surrender to additional demands simply because negotiations are prolonged. Trump now faces a choice similar to that of a gambler in a casino. He can walk away with a deal that may be imperfect and politically unsatisfying but preserves his strategic assets. Or he can double down in search of a better outcome, accepting the possibility that future losses could be far greater than those already incurred. What appears to trouble Trump most is the absence of a clear victory narrative. Yet the search for a more decisive image of success may itself increase the risks to both his presidency and American interests. There are many examples of leaders who continued escalating not because their position improved, but because they could not accept an ambiguous outcome. The question now is whether Trump prioritizes a manageable settlement or continues searching for a victory that may prove increasingly elusive. Decision time. #iran

Dr. Jonathan Reiner: "The president has severe daytime somnolence. He falls asleep very often. He's fallen asleep in the Oval Office on multiple occasions with people talking to him in the cabinet room, and I was concerned yesterday that he might have fallen asleep at Arlington National Cemetery during Memorial Day observances. Chronic insomnia is a severe illness. It can result in an increase in risk of dementia, decrease in cognitive effects in older people."

They really think that they can will lies into reality by repeating them over and over again. if you just get all your fanboys to scream it at everyone who points out the obvious, then it becomes true. Like a really shitty, abusive cult.
Centrism Fan Acct 🔹@Wilson__Valdez

Wild how just all these people are just straight up, fundamentally pathological liars. And they have to keep repeating this lie to make their point. We've already been through this...Hasan explicitly did not tell his fanbase to vote for Kamala. He very explicitly did not vote for her. They just lie. Over and over again. This is the *real* Blue MAGA.

Seeing the “no dust, no deal” line floated around. It’s more nuanced, per what senior admin official said this AM. Step 1: US & make deal, strait opens & blockade lifts. Step 2: Sides agree to all terms. Step 3: As Iran abides—incl disposal of LEU/HEU—sanx lift accordingly.
