I now know what peak rage feels like. The jaw dropping cynicism it takes to deliberately sit on the EHRC Guidance for 221 days, not to mention 363 days since the ruling, and then publish this garbage to hold things at bay until after the May Elections, takes absolving yourself of the responsibility to protect the rights of women and girls to stratespheric levels. This Government holds us in complete contempt. questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statem…

Lib Dem MP says that because most women are assaulted in the home, we should be focusing on that rather single-sex spaces. So if a woman escapes and goes to a DV shelter - does this genius think single-sex spaces don't matter then? Gah...the idiocy.
teresa smith@treesey

Well done @RosieDuffield1 for eliciting NEWS from the @LibDems MP Marie Goldman who says they WANT TO AMEND the Equality Act. Did @LibVoice4Women know this? Also stay to the end of this clip for some disgraceful comments from Ms Goldman about women’s experience of male violence

I hope note has been taken of recent (unsuccessful) attempts by transactivist orgs to persuade @Ganhri1 to downgrade the @EHRC because of insufficient independence from govt Interference in the work of the @EHRC by the Executive seriously risks contravening the Paris Principles
Geri Scott@Geri_E_L_Scott

Excl: Bridget Phillipson told Britain’s equality regulator that it must “tone down” its guidance over single-sex spaces and make it more inclusive before she presents it to parliament. Phillipson said today she would publish the EHRC code of conduct next month after the local elections, and the EHRC confirmed it had "made adjustments where they help the code provide legally accurate, practical guidance that is useful to duty bearers". A source with knowledge of the process said much of the discussion had been over the “tone” of the document, with a feeling it had been approached with the aim of excluding transgender people rather than finding inclusive ways of operating while also upholding the law. Sources close to Phillipson said they "completely dispute" that she asked the regulator to "tone down" the guidance. They said the request was that the EHRC ensured there was clarity for all kinds of services and that the code was accessible and robust. The Times understands that the changes that have been made to the resubmitted code are minimal and that while the guidance itself will not change, the regulator had been asked to include more examples of how organisations can be inclusive within the law. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

🧵 A reminder that: The SC judgment wasn’t about whether trans people in general should be treated as the opposite sex under the Equality Act *It was already known that they should not* /1
Dr Mike Hill@DrMikeHill

@akuareindorf Are you saying it didn’t get reviewed and endorsed by the board of which you were a member? I, like others included businesses, charities and public sector organisations don’t think it was straight forward at all. Nor do they think the law is either clear or easy to implement.

LGBT Youth Scotland’s latest scandal exposes catastrophic governance failure and Equalities Minister @kaukabstewart Stewart’s unforgivable negligence. The sudden resignation of Timothy Guy Westwood as convener of LGBT Youth Scotland (LGBTYS) has ripped the lid off the charity’s broken recruitment and oversight processes. Appointed to the board in late 2024 and fast tracked to convener after the 2025 AGM, 25 year-old Westwood boasted an impossibly glittering CV: senior roles at the British Red Cross, Mind, and Amnesty International, plus “portfolio director, lawyer and adviser” on multiple boards. Independent verification destroyed the claims within hours. The British Red Cross has no record of him. Mind confirms no senior role. His profile photos showed obvious AI generation or heavy digital filtering. Yet LGBTYS either swallowed the fantasy whole or chose to ignore the glaring red flags until public exposure forced his exit. This wasn’t a minor HR error. It was a total collapse of basic due diligence by an organisation that claims to safeguard vulnerable young people aged 13–25. When a charity handling public money and shaping youth policy can’t be bothered to check credentials, it reveals something far darker: a pattern of putting ideology and optics before competence, safety and accountability. And this isn’t isolated. LGBTYS has a documented history of safeguarding red flags: Links to a former CEO convicted in 2009 as part of a major paedophile ring. A current £900,000 civil claim from a man alleging he was groomed as a teenager by charity-linked adults who introduced him to adult venues, alcohol and exploitation. Allegations of volunteers advising self-harm to children instead of discouraging it. Open defiance of the UK Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of “woman” Despite this litany of serious concerns, the charity has pocketed more than £13.4 million in Scottish Government funding since 2015 and continues to influence LGBT education and policy in Scottish schools. That brings us to the real scandal: Minister Kaukab Stewart. As Equalities Minister, Stewart is personally responsible for this funding pipeline. When safeguarding concerns about LGBTYS were raised in Parliament in 2024, she airily replied that the government had “engaged” with the charity, found “no further action” needed, and would keep the money flowing for 2024–25. That response now stands exposed as dangerously negligent bordering on reckless. Handing millions of taxpayers’ pounds to an organisation with repeated governance and safeguarding failures, without rigorous independent scrutiny, is a grotesque abdication of ministerial duty. Instead of demanding proper vetting, transparent recruitment and immediate corrective action, Stewart chose to defend the charity even as it thumbed its nose at the Supreme Court and basic accountability. This isn’t oversight. It’s ideological capture and it has left vulnerable young people at risk while Scottish taxpayers foot the bill. Enough. Time for a full independent investigation into LGBTYS and for Minister Stewart to explain exactly how she let this happen on her watch.
