@LukeBenoit08 @Johnlaban256 @nocontextfm1 Iniesta didn’t become a starter at Barca until he was 20/21. Played around 25 games total between 18 and 20. Also didn’t play for Spain until he was 22.
Pedri has been a starter since he was 17 at Las Palmas and played around 75 games for Barca between 18 and 20 and 18 for Spain.

If Pedri’s still playing top level football at 32 I’ll be stunned

@Johnlaban256 @nocontextfm1 Iniesta was incredible and left top flight football about a month after turning 33.

@gazilapod @SkyNews Big impact from the London marathon in St Albans is there?

@mmayomi01 @matthew_elliott Just say you don't know what you're talking about
English

@matthew_elliott Easy fix, reduce welfare [ push lazy british back to work] or strip migrants off welfare.
English

@jacqui1515 @Andrew_CSmart @MatthewStadlen @matthew_elliott 1. there was a surplus in the last budget
2. Over half this £333b is due to the Tory Triple Lock Policy
3. The Tories had 14 years to stop the deficit and didn't. (Whilst also crippling our services)
English

@Andrew_CSmart @MatthewStadlen @matthew_elliott Indeed they do, and I admit to the oversight. But the point is, we are once again spending more than we are earning.

In the UK, people without legal status ("illegal migrants") have no access to mainstream welfare like Universal Credit, housing benefit or pensions.
Asylum seekers (often irregular entrants) get temporary support if destitute while claims are processed:
- Cash allowance: £49.18/week per person (~£2,556/year) for food/clothing/toiletries.
- Accommodation if needed (hotels or dispersed housing).
~110,000 supported late 2025. Total asylum support spend: £4bn in 2024/25 (Home Office), with ~£2.1bn on hotels alone.
Failed asylum seekers: very limited Section 4 support (accommodation + cash) only if they can't return home immediately; small numbers.
No full benefits until refugee status granted. Costs driven mainly by backlog and hotel use, not standard "benefits".

@ButterBalls5150 @Lena__Reed @matthew_elliott Tax pays for pensions. No way should pensions be more than income tax

@theavfcfaithful He's performed great for years, commuting from London is not a factor in poor form
English

Lucas Digne confirmed him and 3/4 others are commuting from London everyday.

@RupertMyers What is humiliating about us not getting involved in another war that doesn't really need us to be involved in?

Could we even muster one if we wanted to? How humiliating.

A few in the replies to the below tweet called it an average save from Jordan Pickford. It’s anything but, that ball is absolutely flying.

Incredible keeper. You only need to speak to Everton fans to know how much they’ve leant on him over the years.
English

@LukeBenoit08 @r1OP3 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial I can assure you there are numerous Villa posts tagging in Spurs & being reposted by the hour. I think some of your fans could choose Spurs as their specialist subject #mastermind We have a real rivalry coming up on Sunday. But then you’d know that #supersunday #nld @SkySportsPL
English

Reasons include:
- Sacrificing the Premier League.
- The downward trajectory.
- Lack of pulling power.
- Empty seats and a toxic atmosphere.
- Post-Levy vacuum.

@AllisonJaneSmi2 @r1OP3 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial I have literally no idea what you're talking about. He brought up Villa and I replied. Don't think anybody thinks there's a rivalry with Spurs lmao
English

@LukeBenoit08 @r1OP3 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial Some of your fans are coming across frustrated that Villa aren’t being spoken about in the same breath as the supposed top 6 yet at the same time have this small club mentality with this daft obsessive made up rivalry with a London club. It’s coming across a bit school playground
English

@LukeBenoit08 @r1OP3 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial Why are you worrying yourself about my lot? Serious question … as a fanbase we can’t help
being in the public eye 24/7. It makes no difference to how many times we are live on tv or being talked about on the radio. Just enjoy ‘your’ good times & stop with this daft spurs rivalry
English

@LukeBenoit08 @AllisonJaneSmi2 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial So why did you comment this under a post about big 6 things? What about that almost half a decade you spent in the championship? I remember that just as vividly..
English

@r1OP3 @AllisonJaneSmi2 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial Big six doesn't mean anything lmao. I wasn't talking about us finishing in the top six, just nearly half a decade of finishing ahead of Spurs 👍🏼
English

@LukeBenoit08 @AllisonJaneSmi2 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial Did you notice your STILL not big 6? You realise finishing in the top 6 doesnt instantly make you a big 6 team 😂😂
English

@AllisonJaneSmi2 @Matt_Law_DT @SpursOfficial Oh no this SCREAMS Villa fan. Villa and Newcastle (mainly Villa) fans despise us with a passion now because were a big 6 team and they arent.
English

@JuceeRob @Pantera_yes @Draper25Jota @TheAthleticFC His contract runs out next summer and he'll have played a maxof 9 games this year. Of course his value declines.
English

@LukeBenoit08 @Pantera_yes @Draper25Jota @TheAthleticFC He’s not reducing in value, at all. He’s young & English.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has appealed to Liverpool to change the terms of Harvey Elliott’s loan after admitting the current situation is “damaging” the 22-year-old.
Last month, Emery acknowledged there was a reluctance for Elliott to play more games, with the Liverpool loanee needing to play 10 matches in order for Villa to trigger the obligation to buy him.
Emery acknowledged that the current situation on Friday — with Elliott only able to play three more games before Villa’s obligation is triggered — “is not fair” on the midfielder.
