The testimonies I heard from families who have faced the violence & trauma of Trump’s mass deportation agenda were harrowing. I heard from families who lost their breadwinners. I heard from children who were traumatized by the absence of their loved ones. I heard from mothers who were sick about their young children being thrown into cold bare cells, and from wives terrified about never seeing their husbands again. I heard from a Chelsea father who was abducted weeks after meeting his newborn daughter & spent months in detention before being unlawfully deported. The violence, separation, & trauma that this lawless agency is perpetuating cannot continue. Just last week, Republicans in Congress passed a no-string-attached $70 BILLION dollar check to ICE, giving them free-rein to continue invading & terrorizing our communities. We are dealing with an authoritarian regime & a rogue agency full of glorified bullies with no accountability for their actions. That is why I have introduced multiple bills that would allow us to prosecute agents for their crimes & for the pain, suffering, & trauma they inflict in our communities. My position remains unchanged: ICE is an agency beyond reform, and it must be abolished.

In the same week that we saw the advent of the world's first trillionaire, a toddler was murdered for a single pack of pampers. There is absolutely no world in which the callous violence perpetrated by Sentatobia police officers was warranted nor is defensible — least of all for the alleged theft of diapers. The profit of the world goes to line the pockets of billionaires instead of providing safety nets for families such as childcare, healthcare, education, food access, and thriving wages. Kohen’s family and his community at-large are justifiably outraged at this senseless and reckless act of undue, state-sanctioned violence. The people have vehemently condemned the incident and have taken to the streets in protest to demand justice for Kohen. Thanks Anton. I had seen this video elsewhere and I didn’t like what I saw. But watching it with you made me see it a little differently. In fact, I think zi was too harsh in my reaction to my previous viewing. The damage is really superficial, paper on the floor and chairs rearranged. I don’t see anything broken thst will cause expense to the school. I’m going to give the girls the benefit of the doubt and say they are truly enthusiastically celebrating success in what could have been a tough curriculum in a prep school. If they are proud and happy for their education I say more power to them.

Have you seen the latest graduation video of black women supporting their daughters at Madison Prep? I’ll just say stereotypes aren’t given, they are earned. It’s over fam!
