When they were building the pyramids, were they allowed to pee down the side, or did they have to walk all the way to the bottom? Obviously no poops but I’m wondering about pee.

The Chinese released imagery yesterday to the effect that the USS Abraham Lincoln had retreated well south of the Arabian Peninsula from its previous station some 350km from the Iranian coast, this after CENTCOM reported engaging an "Iranian vessel" that approached the carrier.⬇️ At this point the carrier is operating at drastically reduced effectiveness, with any strike aircraft launched requiring midair refueling to strike even coastal targets in Iran and running at a glacial sortie rate. It's an equivalent range to land-based strike aircraft staging from Jordan or Israel - using worse midair refueling equipment. This is obviously an unacceptable state of affairs. When confronted with a plausible threat to a supercarrier operating at a comfortable distance from shore the US Navy reacted not with resolve and a mature acceptance of operational risk in wartime but by withdrawing their capital ship to the maximum range at which it could still theoretically contribute to the battle. This is clearly no longer the hard-nosed Navy of Spruance and Rickover, it's a zero-defects bureaucracy that lives in fear at the prospect of subjecting a supercarrier to a salvo calculation and it acts like it. What's most concerning, however, is that this is the result of an expected failure state to a known doctrinal issue that analysts have been sounding the alarm over for well over a decade now - Anti-Access/Area-Denial threats. MANY papers and articles have been published in the last decade on the threat that Red-force long-range missiles, drones, and strike aircraft pose to the Navy's comfortable 20th-century idea of how and where in relation to the enemy a Carrier Battle Group is supposed to operate. The Navy knows damn well that it has critical gaps in missile defense, drones, and long-range strike assets and has known this for a long time, long enough to procure fixes even on the glacial US military procurement cycle. And the US Navy in fact spent that time doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to address these issues and went to war with Iran - a modest threat compared to the absolute hell that China or Russia could throw at us - unwilling to accept the risk of operating its capital ships within even a modest A2/AD zone. And this isn't even the first time this has happened in the recent past - see the Navy's misadventures off Yemen. The US Navy needs to do some soul-searching right now about what exactly it intends to contribute to the national defense when the chips are down, because at the moment it seems as though it's following the lead of many ineffective navies throughout history and valuing its peacetime hardware over its wartime mission.

🚨🇺🇸 USS Gerald R. Ford heading back to Crete after a fire reportedly wrecked part of the ship… 600+ sailors left without beds. Now they’re checking if it was set on purpose to dodge the extended deployment. Crew already got caught earlier clogging toilets for the same reason. Ship’s been out since June 2025… pushing record deployment time. Navy hasn’t confirmed anything yet. Source: @sentdefender

🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 BREAKING: The Director of the National Counterterrorism Center just resigned over the Iran war. His reason, on the record: "Iran posed no imminent threat. We started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby." That's the man who ran U.S. counterterrorism. @joekent16jan19

We do not talk enough about how many women stop enjoying their birthdays while they’re married. Not because they “don’t care about getting older,” but because the day becomes one more emotional obstacle course to manage. She is not waking up wondering what cake she wants or how she wants to feel; she is scanning the room, reading his mood, lowering her expectations before breakfast. By the time the candles come out, she has already spent the day protecting herself from disappointment

Had a parent-teacher conference this morning My wife told me not to come I came anyway She said "please just listen and nod" I said "I always listen" She said "you listen like you're sitting in a boardroom looking for something to challenge" That's how listening works Nice classroom Small chairs I am 6'4" and was seated at a desk designed for someone who still believes in Santa Claus My knees touched my chest The teacher introduced herself Shared her identified pronouns I shared my identified adjectives Smart and handsome My wife closed her eyes The teacher had a folder Color-coded tabs I respected the organization She said our son is "a pleasure to have in class" My wife smiled I waited That sentence is never the whole report It's the executive summary before the risk section She said "however" There it is She said he "asks a lot of questions" I said "good" She said "during quiet time" I said "when is quiet time?" She said "it's when students are expected to work independently and in silence" I said "so he's the only one trying to get information and you've structured the environment to prevent it?" My wife put her hand on my arm I continued The teacher said he recently told another student that "sharing pencils doesn't make sense if nobody brings their own" I said "that's an accurate observation" My wife squeezed harder The teacher said she's concerned about his "resistance to group activities" I said "he's not resistant. He just doesn't see the value of doing more work for the same grade." The teacher said he also corrected her math on the whiteboard I said "was he right?" She paused She said "that's not the point" I said "it's a little bit the point" My wife stood up Sat back down Compromise The teacher pulled out an evaluation sheet Categories like "works well with others" and "follows directions" and "respects classroom norms" All subjective Not a number on the page I asked how these are graded She said "based on observation" I said "so one person's opinion with no second review?" She said "it's professional judgment" I said "my auditors say that too. Right before I disagree with them." She looked at my wife My wife said "I'm sorry about him" I said "I'm sitting right here" My wife said "I know" The teacher said overall he's a bright kid and she just wants to make sure he learns to "collaborate" I said "collaboration is important. But so is recognizing when you're the only one doing the work. He'll learn that again in college. And again in the real world. Might as well start now." Nobody spoke The teacher closed her folder She said "I think we've covered everything" I said "one more thing" She braced herself I said "his reading is above grade level. His math is strong. He asks hard questions and corrects mistakes when he sees them. I just want to make sure this school knows what it has." The teacher looked at me differently My wife looked at me differently I said "that's all" We left In the car my wife was quiet Then she said "he's turning into you" I said "is that a good thing?" She didn't answer From the backseat he said "dad, why does the teacher count off for asking questions? Isn't that the whole point of school?" I looked at my wife She looked out the window I said "yes. It is." He said "I don't think she likes when I'm right" I didn't say anything Neither did my wife Small chairs Color-coded tabs No follow-up items But the kid's going to be fine Sent from my iPhone

BREAKING: This footage, leaked this afternoon on social media, shows the moment a hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile launched by the IRGC hit the AN/TPY-2 early-warning radar belonging to a THAAD anti-ballistic missile system of the U.S. Army near Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, the destruction of this radar has exposed Saudi Arabia to ballistic missile threats from the Islamic regime of Iran. #OperationEpicFury #OperationLionsRoar

To understand the significance of Khamenei's assassination and why its such a catastrophic blunder for the US, consider this: Iran has never had a martyred Supreme Leader. (Khomeini died of a heart attack.) For the leader of the Islamic Republic to be martyred by the Great Satan is 1000% on brand. Furthermore, Khamenei was killed in Ramadan, the same month as Ali, the first imam of Shiism. He was also killed with his family, which Shia view as parallel to the martyrdom of Husayn and his family in Karbala. This takes Khamenei and the legitimacy of the Islamic Republic to record levels in the eyes of the Shia globally, and increasingly Sunnis. Trump made this incredible blunder because he obeyed Netanyahu and adopted the Israeli strategy of kill everyone and everything.

Updates to #2 and #8 based on excellent comments I received here yesterday. 1. Israel and the U.S. strike several cities and military installations in Iran while activating domestic terror cells still intact within Iran. 2. Iran delivers an overwhelming counterattack using its naval assets and the most advanced missiles in its arsenal, creating wide-spread devastation in Israel and hitting several U.S. bases in the region. 3. The U.S. and Israeli forces resort to an all-out terror bombing campaign, also hitting civilian targets in Tehran and other major cities. 4. Iran launches an assault on the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (CSG) in the Arabian Sea and/or on the USS Gerald Ford CSG off the coast of Israel with proxies, inflicting heavy losses and sinking several ships. Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz for all except Chinese and Russian vessels. 5. China, Russia, and numerous other countries worldwide urge restraint, yet their appeals go unheeded. Iran enables its nuclear weapon program with the aim of manufacturing six nuclear weapons in a month. 6. The U.S. launches a massive bombing campaign of Iran with B-52 and B-2 strategic bombers, while Iran unleashes a full barrage of naval and aerial assets (missiles and drones) against all U.S. bases and assets in the region. A cycle of escalating retaliatory strikes engulfs the region. 7. Israel nukes Iran after suffering devastating losses from continuing Iranian missile strikes. Iran retaliates by leveling most of Tel Aviv, possibly with nukes it may have been developing in secret. 8. The U.S. launches a nuclear attack against Iran (partly to stave off the risk of Israel enacting the ‘Samson Option’). 9. Russia steps in, destroying U.S. assets in the region using hypersonic missiles. 10. Russia or the U.S. launches a nuclear strike, with the other party responding. Nuclear war erupts.

Time to update my worst-case scenario for Iran-Israel war from April 18, 2024, to include the U.S. fully. 1. Israel and the U.S. strike several cities and military installations in Iran while activating domestic terror cells still intact within Iran. 2. Iran delivers an overwhelming counterattack using its naval assets and the most advanced missiles in its arsenal, delivering the worst-case scenario for Israel. 3. Iran launches an assault on the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (CSG) in the Arabian Sea and/or on the USS Gerald Ford CSG off the coast of Israel with proxies, inflicting heavy losses and sinking several ships, and closes the Strait of Hormuz for all except Chinese and Russian vessels. 5. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Even with the massive U.S. military buildup around Iran, Pentagon insiders admit they don't have enough forces or munitions for a long bombing campaign. One official says strikes could only last 7-10 days before running dry, making any extended war tough. Is Trump bluffing to force a deal or he intends to end an eventual war in a fell swoop?
