The #MyTSA mobile app surged as viral videos at airports began circulating, with downloads increasing 4000% and DAUs jumping 488% on March 10th, WoW. ChatGPT is experimenting with advertising in their free subscription. Iโ€™m old enough to remember when Google started running ads and for a few years you could get warm leads for pennies. I also remember when Facebook launched ads and they had so many eyeballs and so few advertisers that it cost nothing to get clients for the first few years. Corporate advertisers donโ€™t move fast on new things. They take 6 months to plan and 6 months to test before they go in heavy. Right now ChatGPT has almost a billion users a week. If they start running ads, they will have a lot of eyeballs and not so many advertisers until the corporates come in. There will be a window of opportunity to win customers very cheaply if you jump on it. I wish I had of been more bullish when Google and Facebook launched ads. I didnโ€™t recognise how unique the moment was and I also didnโ€™t realise how fleeting it would be. When ChatGPT launches ads, Iโ€™m going to seize the day and Iโ€™d encourage you to be ready to do the same.

The @ChatGPTapp ads story is still in its early days, so we should expect a few plot twists as more brands test the LLM waters. Our data shows that between March 2nd and March 16th, there was a marked uptick in both unique advertisers (+171%) and unique users viewing ads on the platform (+424%). While this surge could be partially organic as more brands begin allocating budget, it's worth noting that on March 2nd, @criteo a global ad-tech platform, announced a pilot partnership with @OpenAI, significantly lowering the cost of entry for brands, with lower rates and minimum commitments. There's a lot going on for @ChatGPT right now. It's easy to forget the LLM is in its fourth week of running ads. Thankfully, we haven't. After two weeks of collecting ad data, we've seen: ๐Ÿงพ More than 100 brands from #retail, #grocery, #travel and #entertainment, #software, #media, and #delivery. ๐Ÿ›’ Retail accounts for 44% with brands like @Chewy, @Target, @SEPHORA, @Lowes, @Wayfair and more, investing in the new channel ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ While most brands are importing their #Google playbook, some are experimenting to see what's converting in the new format - @BestBuy @preply, @canva โ›”๏ธ What's even more interesting - which brands haven't dipped their ad dollars in just yet: @Amazon, @Costco, @Walmart, @Apple, and more.
