@Moistcrafter @ios_dev_alb SwiftUI if very nice for small things, but it almost feels like it’s not meant to be used to create entire applications…

@rsty_rafe Oh it’ll look indistinguishable to you maybe. Flutter devs usually don’t have an eye for detail, otherwise they would see how shitty it is. If you don’t believe me: look at their blog showing how they are more aligned with iOS with their Cupertino theme, yet it’s misaligned.

@Bo80337023 @seraleev Yeah exactly, but that’s what you want. Compose multiplatform apps SUCK to use on iOS. I wouldn’t want that for Android user.

@seraleev My understanding is that you can write logic in Swift, but UI and the rest of the application will still need to be written with Kotlin

@VolksVuur @LwaziMBK @claudeai Recommending Copilot is so dumb… GitHub copilot doesn’t have a model, it just uses Claude or ChatGPT over API pricing. That means you’re paying more for the same inference.

Sorry @claudeai I can’t keep paying for a product that’s unusable the constant rate limit makes your product difficult to use for any serious productivity. I’ll be back when you get your act together.

@FloWritesCode Stop using SwiftUI and basically all your performance problems will go away… and even better: you don’t have to upgrade your minimum target to achieve good performance.

@SteveJ_Elstone @Tox715 @Zuby_Tech It’s a nice little improvement, its not negligible, but lets be real: 0.1 ms improvement isn’t “substantial”. It was about 2 milliseconds. We’re talking about a 0.5% improvement. You’re calling that substantial? 😭

Mark Cerny PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Key Points: • PSSR is evolving rapidly latest version "PSSR 2" significantly improves image quality and stability. • PSSR 2 100 microseconds faster than the PSSR 1, frame drops should become slightly rarer. • PSSR 2 PS5 Pro system toggle "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" was requested by developers. • Patched PSSR 2 games tweaks some input data going into PSSR 2. • PSSR 2 PS5 Pro system toggle "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" can cause aliasing in a few scenes, e.g. instability in light sources. 99% of games run fine. • PlayStation Machine Learning evolving rapidly. • PlayStation & AMD co developed shared machine learning tech, not just adapt PC features. • PlayStation is working on machine learning based frame generation will create extra frames to boost perceived FPS and smoothness. It's not coming anytime soon likely 2027 or later. Could arrive on late PS5 Pro lifecycle or more likely next gen PlayStation 6 • Future tech like upscaling + frame gen will be jointly engineered with AMD, not copied from PC. #ProjectAmethyst #Amethyst #PlayStation5Pro #PS5Pro #WitnessPlayUnleashed #PlayStationSpectralSuperResolution #PSSR #PlayStation6 #PS6 #PlayStation #SIE @PlayStation @cerny @AMD @AMDGaming @amdradeon @LisaSu @jackhuynh

@morrisinlife @Cyclebrity This is a menu, but they're notoriously broken as fuck in SwiftUI. Try making a menu that produces a sheet when you press a button. Go on, I'll wait.

@schteppe I can write an application in C or C++ that makes heavy use of pointers and doesn’t have any CVEs around buffer overflows or null pointer dereferences. Relying on the language to do the homework of the engineer for them is how we got in this mess.

@ivproduced @rsuyoy @rayhanadev M1, luxury! I made my first app on a 2017 dual core Intel i5 also with 8GB of ram. Heck, you can probably make an app with a raspberry pi (well, web app) But why would you advocate for it? Yeah it’s fine for trying it, but you’ll outgrow it fast.

@apple_biter @rsuyoy @rayhanadev The exact words were “you can code with it” which is a VERY accurate statement. I built my first app with an 8gb M1 MacBook Air.

No, an 8GB of ram laptop is not “only for web browsing” you can code with it you can do graphic design you can do video editing you can run photoshop you can multitask Tech bros are subject to a massive bias where not a single one of them has tried an 8 GB of RAM computer in the last 5 to 10 years because they all default to thinking they’re unusable when they’re actually perfectly fine. it’s fine. mostly.
Kent C. Dodds 🏹@kentcdodds

An 8GB MacBook is not for you. It's for people who just use the computer as a browser device
